Title: Vertical Dedicated: To Build..or not to Build
Post by: HeadRusch on September 18, 2003, 12:31:14 pm
I'm going to be building myself a coctail over the next few months...but ultimately I will probably be giving that away to my parents, who have requested one........

If I grab a digdug cab, or one of the older shorter styled cabs that sit lower with a much more extreme angle on the display...I could put together a decent vertical dedicated cab.  My only problem....do I really want to do that...or should I build a coctail with dual control faces..one vertical, one Horiz.

My only gripe is..I'm 6'2" and hunkering down over a coctail isn't the best position for games that require more than a few simple keypresses.....

I tried to think about all the vertical games out there.....and I find myself asking if tis worth it.
I was thinking of building the system with 2 spinner sticks...........and five buttons each I'd say ought to cover it.

But do I really want to do this....not sure...you guys with dedicated vertical cabs, what do you think.
Right now I've got a 20" horizontal cab..and wihle pacman and such are squished and small, i REALLY don't notice them as being "small and squashed"....

If oyu have the room, sure!

I plan on making a vertical only coktail cabinet.  It will also support atari football and soccer, but maybe only in 2 tball form instead of 4.  Will probably have a tball and a spinner on each side, then 4 player warlords would be possible.

I also will be getting my hands on some vertical pcbs.  Right now all I have is double dragon and double dragon II which are horizontal.  Debating whethere I will make my double dragon II cabinet vertical once I get my 1942 board.
