I need to pick up memory card for a NEX 5 camera. The Eye-fi looks awesome, and would add geo-tagging functionality in addition to wireless file transfer, but the fastest cards they have are class 6. Do you think the difference in write speed between that and a class 10 SDHC card is enough to forgo the cool Eye-fi features in favor of a faster memory card? Or is class 6 simply plenty fast for a 14 megapixel camera?
p.s. I know that this also depends on other stuff like the speed of the camera's DSP and the size of its buffer. But I don't know enough about this camera to give much in the way of details about that. It's probably safe to assume that in those respects the camera is at least on par with the best micro four-thirds cameras and entry-level DSLRs. If you have experience with other cameras using both speeds of cards, I'd like to hear about it.

Love my Eye-Fi. Mine can handle 3 or so 18MP snaps a second with no delay that I've noticed.
Downside? The helper won't rotate the pics natively, if you're used to the importer that comes with Windows doing it for you. It does set the rotation bits, so higher end programs can still right the pics automagically.

Just wondering, how hard a hit does your battery take from one of those?

Negligible.
I've got one of the Pro cards and it is great...no issues. For large numbers of photos...like the couple-few hundred I may take during sports shoots, I sometimes still plug the card in directly to my MBP rrather than wait for Wi-Fi.
What's also cool is if you have a tablet/smartphone and are not near a hotspot, you can ad-hoc to the tablets and preview your photos moments after you shoot them.

Once it gets all the pics uploaded, negligible.
I've made the mistake of leaving the camera on, on the opposite end of the house from the access point. That little wifi card can't -quite- get the signal there -- but it keeps trying, and kills the battery in the process.

True about the hunting, but I've got so many hotpsots it usually not a problem. I do have to make sure I point the SD card slot towards the closest hot spot though, for the best reception.
It's got a definite "wow" factor. I was taking some pics of the moon recently from my driveway and I still get tickled when I walk inside and BAM...there's all the pics waiting for me. My brother-in-law bugged out when he saw it in action too.
The ad-hoc to a tablet is the bomb too for photo shoots. You can show the pics to your clients/friends almost immediately without having them manhandle your laptop.
