Hi
My names John and ive just managed to get my hands on an old working Jamma cabinet which im going to covert to a MAME machine, ive found out some info and have bought a arcadevga card and will soon be getter a J-pac card. I was planning on mounting the motherboard for the pc directly to the cab using some of those little plastic feet.
My question is how have people rigged up on/.off buttons for the PC side of things? I can run a main power on/off from the board but want to shut the pc down properly not just power if off, any suggestions?
Thanks

I run Hyperspin for my frontend, and have it set up to shut the computer down when I exit the frontend. You can do this with other front ends as well. For my power button, I just rigged up a spare arcade button and mounted it just inside the coin door.

Most computers these days have the power button set up so that pushing the button once briefly will instruct the computer to go through the shut down process. Holding it for 5 seconds will cut the power.
So you will need to have a look the power switch inside your computer and see how it's wired up, then just extend that to the top of the cab or wherever and your own power button.

I use hyperspin and its awesome. Also should your heading read "Hello im new doing a Jamma to Mame conversion" because that could get you a few more responses, not too nit pick or anything ;D

Yes Mala has a setting for shutting down the pc upon exiting the frontend.

HYPER SPIN DID NOT WORK FOR ME.. SETUP SCREEN ARE GARBLED.. USED MALA INSTEAD..

Hyperspin is resource hungry. You need a good amount of memory. Hyperspin has the cool bling thing goind for it but I find Mala to be a pefectly nice frontend.

The title of this thread is disappointing. I thought you were converting a MAME cabinet to JAMMA.
