Finishing up my cocktail cabinet... however, I still need replacement overlay art. I have had an idea for quite some time, however, when I try to use illustrator on the campus lab computers, it crashes :(
So, I was wondering if anyone could help me implement my idea, and make it better. I'm not much of an artist, and as many people on this board have said, its better to have the more artistic help you.
I drew (very horrid) pictures of my goals/dimensions in paint:

I forgot to mention
1 control box needs to say
"Press 1P start to select game
Hold 1P start and press button 1 to quit
hold 1P start and press Button 2 to pause"
other one says
"Hold 2P start and press button 1 to select game"
"Hold 2P start and press button 2 to quit"
If anyone wants to help me, thank you. After seeing the wonderful job that Snaaake did for tacosmuggler, I was very encouraged to get help.

I'll give it a try! ;D

I was curious, but what is the 12" dimension you give for in your diagram? The inside around the controls measures 6.5, so is the outside 12"? ???
-
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it...
The 6.5" would be the straight edge in the middle...
The 12" would be between the 2 sides...
-
That's what it looks like to me.
-
Thank you thank you thank you so much for doing this
tmasman was right, that is how the corners are. The original artwork even over hangs the control panel, so whatever you want to do, is keen by me...
Did I say thank you yet? ;D ;D ;D
-
Here is what I go so far what do you think?
-
That would look pretty sweet...
Just an idea...
You might want to just do a full rectangle instead of the edge cut-outs...
That way he can cut it out after it's on the top...
(Same with the middle area... Just leave all that space black)
Just a thought...
(But it does help to see it like that while in the designing stage...)
Good job!
-
Thats what I'll probably do. That way it won't be short anywhere ;D
-
WOW! It looks AWESOME! ;D I can't believe how fast the response was. Thank you 3dmacman!
I definately agree with both of you, the final print should be black in the control area, so when I cut it, it is guarenteed to match.
Can I make a few requests? Can the Mame be the color off the offical mame logo, from OscarControls? Or would that clash with the Ms. Pacman?
Also, would it look bad if the donkeykong side was flipped, as in the MAME facing outward?
Once again, I am not much of an artist.
Thank you again. Even now, no changes, I know I would use it.
-
Ok, how does this look. What file format do you need, and where can I send it? ;D
-
;D ;D It is EXACTLY what I had invisioned! It looks awesome! Thank you so much. ;D ;D
I have no idea how most people get files to print out... I am guessing a really huge JPG.... Does that work? Also, what size space do I need? I know this mailbox has 20megs free, but sometimes it rejects mail, or just doesn't get it. I may have to ask to resend :(

Thank you again. I am going to have it test printed Saturday, and then vinyl printed as soon as I can get to a printer.
-
If you want to print then you don't want a jpeg. I believe a PDF file is what you will be wanting then.
-
I don't know who you are printing with, so I am sending the pdf file, zipped down to 4.8mgs. I generally use pdf's when sending off to print, that way the printer doesn't have to worry about font, color, file issues. Remember to post pics when your done so we all can check it out! ;D

The picture never came! I thought it was my email server (it tends to delay files for no reason)
I am praying you still have it....
can you send it to
