So I just got done finding some roms (0.144) and transferred them to my mame pc. Now what?
I have seen so many different suggestions and pieces of software that I am not sure what my next step is. Can someone please give me a brief explanation on which pieces of software come next in order and why they use them? I don't need anything super detailed because I can read up on them myself, just wondering their basic purpose.
The software I have currently but no idea which order to use them in are:
clmamepro
MC64
MAME 64 bit: Source and Binary
I will work on a front end later after I get these other programs out of the way. I have loaded all of my .zip files into the Roms Dir that MAME 64 created and can see them when I launch the application, but perhaps I should have done something else first? I see a lot of "red" roms that have known problems. Do I have to go through each one and remove them from the directory if they aren't green?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to let me know what my next step should be!!!!

In MAMEUI 64, do an "audit all". It's under the File menu.
Once audited, all of your working roms will be in the "Working" category.
Anything that is red will not play. MAME will even tell you not to bother with them, so just delete them.

I'd start doing some reading before you go any further.
http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Main_Page (http://wiki.arcadecontrols.com/wiki/Main_Page)
Check out the software section.
FWIW, to run a rom, the simplest thing to do is just get MAME (yes, the basic vanilla version from MAMEdev):
http://mamedev.org/release.html (http://mamedev.org/release.html)
Extract that to a directory (e.g., c:\mame).
Drop the roms in the c:\mame\roms directory.
Then, run the game from the command prompt (e.g., "mame 005")
Again, this is all covered in the wiki and many other places online (even in the MAME documentation :o).

Thanks guys for the tips. I will go forth and start reading the wiki pages.......I forget about those sometimes and just try to look through these forums.
Once again, thank you both.
