Title: Mortal Kombat CP art Interest check??
Post by: rikitiki on November 19, 2011, 11:52:42 am
Heres an interesting project that came to me locally pretty simple, art is done so the ? really is...

Is there interest to have these 3 pieces Silkscreened?

I know there are some inkjets out there there arnt correct in detail or even the font used for Midway and this seems like a worthy project to screen. Small and Simple 3 color priced at around $30-$35 for all 3 pieces.

what say you?

Are you doing adhesive art to apply to the CP or screen-printing directly onto the CP's people ship to you?  Thanks.

I think the point was silkscreened, which GoG doesn't do.

Interested.  My MK has the wrong CPO.

Correct these would be SILKSCREENED on 3m adhesive backed vinyl.
Also judging by the graphic on GoG the font isnt correct nor is the detail on the logo.

I believe I'd be interested, but would like to see how a set turns out (color accuracy and etc.), although I know after taking a digital pic and then displaying it on a random monitor it may appear off a bit, but it would give an idea of what was being paid for.

FWIW, I don't think Rich would ever settle for anything less than perfect ... this ain't your father's inkjet.

For those who don't know who Rich is ... http://www.thisoldgame.com (http://www.thisoldgame.com)

EDIT: rikitiki -- put a link in that sig! And then drop price on the Cheyenne sideart because apparently my kids are more important than my Exidy440Multi!  ;)

I bought a repro Pole Position CPO and steering wheel decal from Rich not too long ago.  The quality is top notch!

If I made some custom art the size of the pole position art for the PP shroud, could you print it? Haurman just loves what he got from you

Just wanted to second the quality of what Rich does!   He printed off some modified Tapper side art for me a while back.  Turned out 1000% better than I had ever hoped!

Id buy a set.  Any chance you would be interested in doing the side art?  Or maybe the CPO or marquee?

Also, would you consider creating sideart for Mortal Kombat 2; just the logo area (dragon medallion, stripe, and MKII logo) as a small adhesive piece?  Many MK2's only really show their fading here, and Raiden generally still looks pretty good.  This would make a faded MK2 cab look almost new on the sides again.  (As long as the size of the artwork is true to the original so it would be a perfect cover for the old logo.)

I think that would be tuff to match everything exactly to do just that piece

Really?  Wow, I thought that would be simple considering the work you have done already.  But thanks anyways.

the print itself would be easy enough
but cutting it and matching it up to cover something original and have it look good
so it just dosnt look like a band aid is something else.

I have the control panel artwork. The one on gameongrafix website is the artwork I made. I advise you to not print them from him as he stole them from me. I sent them to him for a test print and starting selling them without my permission or anything in return and never answered my emails back about it. The artwork needs a little touch up but the measurements and everything are already done. Like I said the artwork is not perfect but should save a lot of time. I would much rather see them silk screened anyway.
Here is a video I did of the artwork applied to my arcade machine. The midway and the red looks washed out in the video from the lighting that I had by the way.

Just wondering on the logo here, is this how the final piece would turn out, because it sure looks a bit out of alignment & skewed (the "M" is bigger than the following letters with "Y" the smallest) when compared to the side cp logos on my dedicated machine.  It shows the bottom of the logo parallel to the bottom of cp.

Example (not my cab, but look at the side where Midway is printed):

When is this happening?  $30 is quite fair.  I just finished restoring an MKI that was converted to an MK4 then finally a tekken tag.  Just looked worse with each conversion.  Anyways, under all the paint and crap was beautiful art.  I have yet to do other side but My CP side and front art is shot. had to peel the tekken tag stickers and in the process it peeled the originals.

Also intersted in he CP overlay,  what does that usually run.  My cab has the sad excause for a namco tekken tag CP overlay. The one with the Cheesy flames.

Thanks.

I sent my photoshop file to get it printed at game on grafix and looked at his website and he was selling them. When I confronted him about it he ignored me. Put a lot of time and hard work into it. Just letting you guys know watch out for that dude. I would much rather get them screen printed anyway. The glue on the back of it is just crappy and peels by itself over time. It's happening to me already and am looking for someone else to print these for me so they stay for many years to come.. Mike can confirm I did the artwork that is on GOG's website. He helped me install the art over the phone.. This old game. How much would you want for a screen print?

Odd that he would do that, considering he already had the artwork from CAG artwork purchase (and that was a pretty clean copy).

My opinion on game on graphics (formerly mamemarquees). Scott printed me an MK1 cpo a while back, the size way way off, he was very hesitant about replacing it for me as it was his mistake. Finally after exchanging around 10 or so emails he gave in and sent me a new one that was the proper size. It ended up peeling off in less than 2 months.

My next purchase from him was a UMK3 marquee, again the size was wrong, and again gave me a real hard time about exchanging it. Also, the colors were way too dark.

From my experience, and this is just my opinion, it is better to find the art work file and have a local shop do it for you.

I also had ordered a MK1 marquee from him and the length was way off. He ended up sending me out another one with the right length but the width was wrong. I gave up and had to cut part of the midway off at the top.

:dunno I always thought when you ordered something from Scott you had to provide the dimensions
his new site has it set as a require input before you can even order

When I made my orders her was doing it default as dedicated sizes unless stated otherwise and it was wrong both times. Esp after I gave him the length and width the 2nd time. O well I guess.
