Title: Full rom names for Mame in Mamewah 0.97???
Post by: skid_68 on November 18, 2011, 08:33:34 pm
I've had this problem in the past. I can't remember how I fixed it before. But I have had it working. I've been trying to fix it all day, and I'm about ready to rip my hair out. I'm using mamewah 0.97 since getting mamewah 1.65 working is also a joke. I recently updated my mame romset to 1.35. The full names worked in mamewah before I went about updating my romset. I've tried dat files, every setting you can think of in mamewah, and more. But It will not work. Some one please help me out before I go crazy.

Hmmm. One step closer. I decided to use my 0.86 dat file I had before updating. Renamed it to mame.dat and put it in my main mame folder. Set mamewah list gen settings to rom folder vs dat file and generated a new list, and what do ya know. It worked. But only using .086 roms.

So why wont my 0.135 dat files work? I've tried 3 different files and none will work. It wont generate a list.

The new .dat files have .xml structure. I'm pretty sure you can use CLRmamepro to create a .dat file that has the old structure.

Or you can use the rom_folder_vs_listxml in the list generation method. Although I have no idea if it would work on the 0.97 version of Mamewah. Might try it with the 1.65 version.

I ended up using clr to create a new dat file based on my rom folder. I then used mamewah version 1.65 to compile a list using the rom folder vs dat file option. I then copied that .lst file from 1.65 to my .97 install of mamewah and that finally worked. I guess version .97 can't read the newer dat files and compile from them. Live and learn. I would just use 1.65 but setting up the layouts all over again using new methods wasn't working at all.
