I am restoring/modifying a generic cocktail I did 8+ years ago. It's a pretty trivial question, but I cannot decide on whether or not to place the player start buttons on:
1. The front of the cab so that player 1 is easily reachable by player 1 and player 2 button is easily reachable by player2?
2. Both player 1 and 2 are on the player 1 CP?
3. Player 1 on player 1 CP - player 2 on player 2 CP?
I kind of like the idea of them on the front of the cabinet. Having a hard time with the cheese factor (if it will be cheesy looking or not). I don't want to drill those wholes to find I hate the look. :dunno
Anyone have pics of that setup? I know I have seen them installed at the front but it's not very searchable.
Thanks for reading this semi pointless post. :)

Did you mean to say 'drill out those holes' or 'drill out those whores'?
But seriously, folks, I like option 3. When would player one ever want to push the player 2 start button?

i did option #3 on my mame cocktail but i wanted my cocktail to be able to play most all mame games. games with continues and such, i really feel player 2 should be able to hit their own start button. if i was only playing classics i think i'd rather them both be on the player 1 panel.

I don't think this is a pointless post, this is actually a cocktail owner's issue that must be considered.
On my mame cocktail I currently have option 3. But I'm going to change it to option 2.
Reason is because I find that more people tend to forget to hit P2, especially since Player 1 controls what game is started up. Having one person control the credits is also good when in a party situation and drinking is involved, which is most of the primary use with our cocktail cabinet.

Totally, for classics #2 is best. But if you play all mame games on a cocktail than 3 is probably better.

Thanks for the suggestions (and the spell check popsicle. lol :) )
Still not sure. Option 2 seems to make the most sense. I am usually in the player one seat controlling everything, plus my friends are better off with less button options.
Also having access to the player 2 button gives me another shift+button option.

This thread probably fits better in the Project Announcements section.
