if you have a de-cased one for sale in good condition please let me know. It's for a project for at-risk students at my school.

is there anything else you need? I'd love to hear more and help out even if it's through a small paypal donation. I'd offer more but I'm a student myself.

I teach math and history at a transistional residential program. All of my students have spent some time in a juvenille detention facility for a variety of reasons. There is the usual car theft and vandalism, but every so often it's because a kid did some relatively minor things but flamed out of a foster home and they have no other place for them to go. They range in age from 13 - 18. Even with their backgrounds they have fallen prey to the "I have to go to college" syndrome. I figured I could introduce them to electronics by building a touchscreen jukebox, then moving on to mame and for some of the kids who are with me for 6-9 months restoring a dedicated machine. I figure I can put some practical basic geometry and electronics in their heads and hopefully steer them towards careers instead of crime.
Right now I have an old laptop to run music and some videos, and a decent pair of speakers for our initial build
Needs
Plans for a tabletop touchscreen juke or an old gutted megatouch cabinet near in the New England area. I need the dimensions off of it.
Every now and then we get a kid who comes in and does the right thing. For those students who remain on the highest level for their 3-9 months hers I would like to see if I can get a grant or appropriate some funds so that we can build them their own low bucks juke to take with them. I'm sure I'll get flamed for wasting tax dollars.
No donations are needed, but I appreciate the offer.

Cool, sounds like good work you're doing :applaud:. I have a 500gb 3.5 hdd I'm not using and don't plan to use, would that be helpful? I wonder if for those students who still want to go to college you can help them figure out how to transfer through a community college?

I just finished a project a few days ago using one I had in my basement for years. I didn't think I was ever going to use it until one of my wifes friends started talking about how she loves them. I took her computer to fix it up (5 search bars in every web browser type) and a few days later...
To finish the project, I searched on craigslist. I found someone selling megatouchs (for a decent price) refurbished. I emailed if he had an empty case and he did. Trouble is, these things are HEAVY. So you should look local. But there are people who buy these in bulk, fix them up and sell them. Find one, and you will probably be able to drive and pick one up.
Also posting your real location helps here. ESPECIALLY when asking for CRTs.
btw, do you have control over the lighting? And want an interesting project? Consider building a multi touch. You rip a cheap lcd apart, and buy an old eyetoy camera... Put in some plexi and some infrared leds and you have yourself a multi touch system. Project usually takes a few days to a week depending on how much your willing to buy, compared to rip apart yourself. It also wont work in rooms with lots of natural lighting and some types of lights. But if the project is to get the kids to finish a project, http://nuigroup.com/go/lite (http://nuigroup.com/go/lite). I've built 2 so far...Fun as a project (but never did much with them after, one was in the shape of a cross between an arcade and a drafting table, and one was/is (not finished yet) in an arcade cocktail table. The cocktail table uses IR lasers, the old one used FTIR (leds being shot into a thick plexi and a projector.
