I have always enjoyed good movie opening credits. With the right song and effects you can really set the tone of the move.
Most people ignore the opening credits, they are always more concerned how a movie ends; never how it begins.

I vote for the opening to "Manhattan" by Woody Allen.
-
I thought the opening to "The Rundown" was pretty neat

This didn't require even 1 second of thought for me. Love it. :)

Watchmen was fantastic if you read the graphic novel. There was so much of the backstory of the original Watchmen done there that didn't make the movie. Nice choice.

LOL at the Gummi Bears. I haven't even thougth of that cartoon in years.

Wow, that Zombieland opening is awesome. ;D I've always loved the Taxi movies (except the Latifah remake) so that's a close second so far in this thread.
Some of my favorites:

IMHO, Zombieland has one of the best cameos ever as well. Won't spoil it. :D

If we are doing TV as well, this is the Ultimate intro in the history of intros:
Perfect Strangers Intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vbnLYROCj8#)
Regardless of how you feel about the show, nobody can deny that you feel 10 feet tall after listening to it.

:lol I just found out last week that the guy who plays Balki, Bronson Pinchot, religiously eats at one of my the restaurants of the company I work for every week.
Taxi rules, made me think of this other classic intro:

Also one that is deceptively great. I mean the show was cancelled in 1998, only had 13 episodes and yet I STILL manage to start singing the damn thing at least once a month.

It was canceled 4 years before it was created? Impressive. ;D

A lot of replies. And there have been some good ones posted. I forgot about Tales from the Crypt. Jack of all trades was pretty good. I remember that show when Xena and Hercules was canceled.
Got me thinking of another one, Star Trek Voyager.

Good call on the Tales from the Crypt.
Speaking of catchy theme songs, anyone remember Dinosaucers? I cant look for it or link anything, but I remember that having a cool little tune to it. The Intro was pretty neat if I remember correctly.

I love how this started as a Movie thread and there are virtually no movies listed on it. ;)
I can't believe we haven't mentioned Dr. Who yet.

Anyone else watch this TV show back in the day? Amazing Stories
Amazing Stories Theme (Intro) HD Cuentos Asombrosos John Williams (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hj-QRfTjjDg#) so dated now
Movie ==> Star Wars

I used to watch that show religiously. It was really odd though... it wasn't creepy like the twilight zone and it wasn't scary like tales from the crypt. It was really just a bunch of modern "tall tales". So the title was aptly named.

I rember loving this as a kid, The score kicks major ass and it was a cool visual. :applaud:

The Warriors. During the opening credits, you see the gang on the subway coming in, hear dialogue between Cleon and Swan, Ajax and Swan (I think?), and a few others. The pacing of the scenes along with the cinematography really sets the stage for the entire movie.
Time to get that DVD back from a friend and watch it again. IMOP (TM via X), it's a top 10 film.

I guess that one is OK if you enjoy the slow, drawn-out version of the theme and also enjoy looking at a big black blob for a minute and a half.
Let me fix it for you:
Batman - The animated Series Opening [Full HD] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A71i0a5x-qA#noexternalembed)
or
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm Theme / Intro / Titles HD (Shirley Walker Soundtrack) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xgDpesd428#noexternalembed)
Which is less dynamic but has a better theme.

almost forgot army of darkness! For god sakes how do you stop this thing!

Boogie Nights
Not much because of the credits, but because it is one of the most incredible one-take shots, introducing all characters of the movie in one fluent stream. Amazing picture too.
