So I'm thinking about grabbing a ps3 on black friday (ya im brave/dumb enough to put up with the crowds) What do you think the 160 gb ones will go for? Retail is $250.00 I'm guessing $200 with a game or 2 bundled in. What do you guys think?

Is it really wise to get a ps3 this late in the game?
The Wii U will be coming out next year and it's graphical capabilites are supposedly on par or better than the ps3.

That's the eternal question that really doesn't matter. If he wants a PS3 at this price, but did not want it at a prior price, what is the problem? Not everybody dictates their purchase decisions on "what is the most powerful device at this moment".

I can't wait until the PS3 gets some major price cuts- Uncharted, Little Big Planet, the Pixeljunk stuff- I want to play it all but can't justify a third console just yet!

I just found out that raidosahck had a leaked b. Friday ad saying they will have the 160 gb ones bundled with little big planet two and ratchet and clank all 4 one along with a $20.00 gift card for $200.00 bucks. The y have been forcing sites to take down the add but they will be releasing it on the 10th. That sounds like a good deal two me. However I was looking at amazons PS 3's last night and I'm relay liking that 3 year square trade warranty for $35.00. It would be nice to not worry about failure issues for the next 3 years. I hope they have a similar bundle.

Hell yes at least for me. I haven't bought one and now the price is right and there a large library of great games many of wich can be had for around $20.00 As far as the wii U I'm not touching it with a ten foot pole untill i see that it has quality games and dosent flop. Plus I'm not really into buying launch systems. they have two many hardware failures. And of course theres twisted metal coming in February.

What he said exactly. They were $600.00 when they came out. I would never pay that for any game system. Now that were looking at about a third of that I think its a great deal. Graphics and processing power donut really mean much to me. I have just as much fun rocking 8 and 16 bit games as I do current gen games. For me It's all about the gameplay.

3 year square trade warranty for $35.00
Waste of $35

Why do you think it's a waste of money? I looked at the reviews of the policies and people seem to be vary happy with them and say they will fix or replace your PS 3 just like they promise to. Normally I don't do warranty's but with the PS 3's less than steller hardware record it seems like a good idea.

Well, according to Sony, of course this may change, they think the PS3 will be their only console til 2015. I sure as hell hope thats the case, I would LOVE for that to be accurate. I hate buying systems every 4-5 years. Im glad that hasnt happened yet, cuase I just got mine last year. I still havent even beat Uncharted 2 yet. :embarassed:

I agree, I was late to the game with the 360, and have yet to get a PS3... I hope this console cycle lasts a bit longer.

Well aside from that, once the wii U is released the other consoles will be deemed "obsolete" and you'll be able to get them even cheaper or m$ and sony will feel threated and release the new consoles they are obviously sitting on and you'll have just paid a decent amount of money for last generation's console.

just search local craigslist for brand new sealed ps3. there is always random black friday going on there. you'd find one that cost less than retail and no tax.

And I thought Howard had no sense of humour.
Great gag Howard!

A) I like Nintendo and all, but Nintendo and Playstation, library-wise, are two separate beasts. If someone wants a PS3, telling him to just wait for the new Nintendo is like telling someone who wants a new car to just wait until they come out with the 2012 line of mopeds. (Not to imply one is better than the other - you can swap the car/moped assignment if it makes you feel more comfortable.)
B) As someone who still plays his Commodore 64, NES, Genesis, Playstation 1, etc., I believe consoles are NEVER obsolete.
C) For the foreseeable 12 months, a PS3 is a better buy than a Wii-U considering the former has an established library while the selection of Wii-U will consist of launch titles and older Wii games (that you can play on a much cheaper Wii). (rlemmon already covered that fact)
