Hello.
I posted this question in the MAME forums, but did not get too far. I'm posting here in the hopes that someone in the know might know how to do this.
Does MAME allow control of sinistar with an analog stick in such a way that the ship will move faster, the farther the stick is move from center, like the original 49-way did?
I was recently playing around with sensitivity and speed settings under analog controls, but the speed of the ship relative to the position of the stick did not seem to change with the values I entered. Also, the joystick mapping feature only seems to affect direction of movement, not sensitivity.

there is no sensitivity with switches im afraid :badmood: Its either on or off.
-
That's too bad.
I find Sinistar rather hard to play with the ship going balls out on every press of the stick.
Thanks for the reply.

Wait, realizing that you mentioned switches, I think you might have misunderstood me.
I'm trying to use an analog stick (MS Sidewinder) to control this game, so there are no switches involved. Also, the original 49-way had optical sensors, instead of switches, so I'm not sure now what you were referring to.

You shouldn't really play it anyway. It's too scary.

Maybe that's really why I can't get good scores...
