Title: Xbox Cab questions. what program to use?
Post by: racecar on October 31, 2011, 01:34:41 am
Hi all just finished up installing a CRT TV into a old cabnet, Then i stripped an old x arcade adapter an using that in the cabnet.

I have tested it and its all working good. I bought it chipped an was wondering if i should try install coinops on it and other programs i have seen people talk about.

Is there any treads or links i could read regarding this.

Also is it a large download to get everything?

Thanks ill put up pictures if anyone wants to see

Coinops and XBMC are the two programs to have in my opinion.

xbmc is small, and coinops with all the games is huge, over 20gigs you can get the standalone without any games and it is a lot smaller.  You can find them if you do a search for coinops blog.

What does the standalone mean? I could download coinops ill do a serach for the blog.

Is it best to just download which ever is a complete set for the time being.

Do many people use the program here?

Since you don't already have it installed you'll need to get the standalone.  The other versions are updates.  The lite version comes without all the games.

I found a friend who has all the coinops updates which go to R10. Ill get the complete collection an try figure out how to put it on there.

Is there a gamelist or videos or anything to read about how to use it etc

The best place to start is to go to the Coinops site and read the FAQ
coinops.blogspot.com/p/coinops-faq.html (http://coinops.blogspot.com/p/coinops-faq.html)

It is fairly easy to setup a favorite list and there are a lotof ways to search games.  I believe the current build has somewhere between 2500 and 3000 games.  Then. Just recommend playing around with it.  Setup is easy, just FTP the Coinops folder into you Apps or Emulators folder and be prepared to wait for a few hours while it copies over.
