I do wonder how many (and in what market) of some of those obscure MAME games were produced back in the day. On my 4-way classics cab I love Mr. TNT... but did anyone ever actually play that at an arcade?

There were lots of them, probably on the order of five hundred to one thousand units, and they made it round and round in medium to large cities. They didn't last long partly because of the crash, partly because the games weren't very or any good.
