Title: Mame32 and XP
Post by: Echo25 on September 15, 2003, 11:45:42 am
I have Mame32 running on 2 XP machines. My main PC works perfectly, the one I'm using to set up my cab is giving me problems.  Every time I Quit it does not return to Mame32, the focus goes to the windows toolbar the Mame32 blinks until I select the window again.  I know this has got to be something simple in XP, just can't find it. I tried using Power Toys - the do not steal focus option - didn't work.  Anyone know how to fix this?  Thanks for any help.

You should just try something other than Mame32.  It is a hacked together version of Windows Mame with a GUI added.  Try just the plain Windows build of Mame and grab a frontend for it.  If this is just a desktop PC, try something like Emuloader for the frontend.

I'm running 3darcade, and sometimes I kind of miss the simplicity of mame32.  I think it was really easy to go straight to the game I want, while also letting me flip through the list and find something random to play.

I can't tell you why you're losing focus, but I can tell you that it doesn't happen on either of my XP machines.  Try ending tasks until it doesn't happen anymore.  End one, play a game, see if the focus goes away, repeat.

Problem solved.  I was using Mame32 .71, upgraded to .74 and problem went away.
