Title: Puzzle Bobble 2 missing pixels from bottom of the screen?
Post by: emuola on October 23, 2011, 05:46:09 am
Been wondering this for a while. I run Advancemame (Lincade, MGA400 etc -> pixel perfect resolutions) and there are appr 10 pixels missing from the bottom of the screen. For example the score in 2 player mode is only half visible. This does not change no matter what resolution I try to force the game into from the Advancemame's video menu. And it's clearly not a screen calibration problem either.

Is this a known problem in the rom or mame or what? As contrast for example Super Sidekicks seems to display all the pixels properly.

It's working fine on Mame Plus GUI for me.  Try a few different emulators.

Ok, actually it seems that the picture is somehow cropped at the top *and bottom* by appr 10 pixels. I saw a similar problem on one video in youtube (but cannot find it right now). So, someone else has also had the same problem. I'll try to find another version of the rom and/or neogeo bios.

*edit*

The actual version is Puzzle Bobble 2 / Bust-A-Move Again (1999 Neo-Geo) and this screenshot from mamedatabase shows exactly what I mean:

The screen is cropped, e.g. the characters "stand" on nothing and there is nothing beyond the P1 sign.
I guess, I just switch to some aother version of this great classic :)
