- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.

- If you're a MARP competitor on this title, keep in mind this is just a friendly competition among forum members, so maybe you shouldn't enter. However, if you're a forum member and this is a game you're good at and nobody knows about it, this is your time to shine!

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).

- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed.  No program or other person or entity of any sort may manipulate your controls during your game.  Coaching & back-seat driving is fine as long as the party doesn't directly influence the game or controls.

- If you can beat any of the high scores from the previous competitions, you can submit your score to the BYOAC High Game Scoreboard. (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=113948.0)

Best of luck!

Yes, I tend to hurt my hand playing this one.....as I end up punching inanimate objects.

I'm usually better at this. Speaking of 5k-pointers, I think for the first time I found two on the first screen, during the first game. (The second game the boss was coming and I was just saying, 'oh no five-thousand-pointers', and then one showed up before I finished the sentence.)

NICE. Yeah, last or second to last game that session I got more than one wing squadron. I almost always see them very early on in the first level, but rarely on others. Also, I think that second squadron I wasn't quite close enough to get the last two. I kept firing, and they kept cruising on. -hangs head-
Title: Re: High Score Competition #77: Time Pilot '84
Post by: jasonbar on October 19, 2011, 12:24:00 am
Per the "history" text in my MAME install, I can usually get the 8k formation squadron on level 1 by flying east (and a hair north?).

But, I have yet to find the free-guy Time Pilot biplane on level 1, supposedly found by flying east to the water, & then flying north.

Anybody found it?

Thanks,
-Jason

PS--Gray_Area & spoot are poopieheads!   :hissy:
Title: Re: High Score Competition #77: Time Pilot '84
Post by: spoot on October 19, 2011, 10:26:18 am
I've gotten the bi-plane twice during this entire competition.  I had assumed it was random and haven't been actively looking for it.  That might change now.
Title: Re: High Score Competition #77: Time Pilot '84
Post by: spoot on October 19, 2011, 09:01:16 pm
Well, I just spawned the bi-plane on level two on the last two games I played.  Might not be random.....or just coincidence.  Anyways, first spawn I got the bi-plane to show up.....missed him.....then flew up to hit a 5k bonus.  2nd game I got the 5k bonus...and flew around a bit in the area to the south......boom, got the bi-plane again.   :o

I got it at the river.....spawned both times a little bit below the 5k hidden in the river.  The river is pretty wide in the bi-plane spawn if indeed it wasn't just luck twice.

BTW, since jasonbar called us poopieheads he's not allowed to read this.   :laugh2:

EDIT: Ok, make that four times in a row.  Yeah, not random.   :D
Title: Re: High Score Competition #77: Time Pilot '84
Post by: Gray_Area on October 19, 2011, 10:24:55 pm
MAMEHistory says plane formation comes from flying east - though on other levels, I think it can be west or something - though History also says the formation flies east, and I've had them come every cardinal direction.

Don't know as I've seen the bi-plane, but I haven't looked for it. I don't even have the 5k spots down; I assumed they were random.

And.....I almost beat ya spoot!  I think I only had one 5k, first screen; and couldn't find water till at least level five or six; but I did get a chance at a second and I think third squadron. Got the first two, had to dodge at the last and missed the last plane of the third. AH. In any case, as I was wondering about this, I think it's easier on my vert cab. Everything's bigger.

I love this concept but have a suggestion - post winning scores in the hyperlink text.

Example:

#999 - Big Dong Whacker - Winner: Mr.Hot (119,000), Second: Buster57 (101,050).

Something like that, rather than have to scan the thread to find the winner's score.

EDIT:  Ah, balls.  I could have won the Defender round.

Nice, I see you made it to level 12 as well.  Surprised you didn't pull ahead since I got stopped very very early into level 11.

I can almost always pull at least one fighter squadron, but I don't have the 'spots' down. And I don't think you've put your best into it. I fought that last one all the way.

Well, I finally saw, and got, the bi-plane - on level 5, over the craterland. ?

Anyways, I can't do it. I came in under 200k a couple times.

Thanks, H Banana.  I had a little time to kill before watching Auction Hunters last night, so I fired up the cabinet & saw my high score that I'd achieved several days ago but had forgotten about.  Almost let that score slip by unreported!   :o

Winner: jasonbar
Second: spoot

I feel a bit bad.  I seriously did not intend to ninja.  I'd played a great game & had totally forgotten until I played again last night (and couldn't top 150k or so, but I was rushing for my first games & I was into a few glasses of wine for the last few games...)
