Title: Wiring power button help - HP P6710F
Post by: jcutler0902 on October 11, 2011, 11:04:57 am
Hello,

I am helping a friend of mine finish his mame machine. I am trying to wire a power button from the cabinet to his desktop to power it on.  I was successful in wiring mine, however his has some additional wires. Can someone take a look at advise with some ideas or is familiar with this HP setup?

One pic is where it plugs into the motherboard. The second pic shows the number of wires.

Thanks!
Jason

That connection has Power switch, HDD and Power LEDs and possibly a reset button connected.  Unfortunately there is no definitive pinout  :banghead: :banghead: but see the following page which should be the same

I think you hit the nail on the head. I guess my only question is what wires needs to be spliced in order to power down and power up?
I assume PWRSW and Ground?

Fortunately my desktop only had two wires going to it, much easier.

Any thoughts?
