Title: How big is too big (Display)

At what point do you think a screen starts to be too big? I have the opportunity to big up a free 32 inch TV with component video. I had been planning on using a 27 inch TV and am a little worried that 32 is pushing the limit.

IMHO, Malenko's is pretty near perfect in execution.  I see that vertical games would be a wee bit exaggerated, but if there was some way of configuring vertical games down a touch - or even surrounding them with original 'game art' as I've seen in some examples - then it's pretty damn sweet.

Size is proportionate to distance.  The further back you are, the bigger you can comfortably use.

It's only too big if it doesn't fit in yer house.   :D

In all seriousness though......like above, distance to screen matters.  I used to play on a 103" projected screen.   It was awesome, but I found myself having to move my head/eyes to see portions of the screen.....which gets you killed alot playing Raiden.   :angry:

Like someone said, it depends on the distance from the screen.  Thus depends on how you are going to have it setup.  A larger display in a showcase cabinet that you will be further away from may work well; but in a regular cabinet, may result in issues.  I've been told by a local guy that sells a lot of cabinets that people always buy a 25" over a 19" when given the option; however, he told me he would prefer the 19" for the games he plays because he can see everything on screen without having to move your head all around.

One of my favorite games is Robotron.  A 19" is great.  I would not want a larger display in a regular cab to play it because it would make it impossible to take in the entire screen at any given time.  Larger for a showcase cabinet would be OK as it would be further away.
