Title: How hard could it be to reprogram neo-geo carts?
Post by: abispac on September 29, 2011, 03:46:35 pm
Heres the esenario, i have 2 pony japanese type cabs, they all have the single cart neo-geo system.I have a bunch of carts, i believe they are all bootlegs, as i really dont know how to tell an original from a bootleg, theyr all diferent games. So i really dont want to expend alot of money on this projetc so i was thinking that maybe i can just desolder the cart eproms or whatever neogeo carts have, and have a friend of mine replace the roms on it with mostly kof hacks that i can found on misfit romset.NOw if im going to adventure on somenthibg like that, making some multi neogeo game cart would be alot better. some important points:I do own alot of carts, but changing carts for this old games its a pain in the butt,im just trying to make'it asyer if i can get a multi neogeo cart without buying one and save some money, if i cant, a kof2002 hack rom would be just fine too as its pretty much the game i like in misfit. So i wonder if someone can point me in the right direction, as i have burned pacman roms in the past but this ones are diferent.

There might be something like this, only for neogeo?

Also, from wikipedia:
"The arcade version of the hardware is often referred to as the "MVS," or Multi Video System (available in 1-slot, 2-slot, 4-slot, and 6-slot variations, the latter being capable of up to six cartridges loaded into one machine), with its console counterpart referred to as the "AES", or Advanced Entertainment System (most likely to distinguish it from the Nintendo Entertainment System, the dominating console on the market at the time)."

Why bother?  Just get one of those 110-in-1 MVS carts and call it done.

i know i can just buy that, but what would be the fun? maybe ill just go with an old computer,an ati vga card, and hyperspin. but ill rather keep'it almost original in hardware, so ill see if it can be done via a cart mode or ealse.

Ive been opening several carts, some have a snk chip on it, some dont , so im not sure if those are authentic or bootleg, also the chips would be hard to desolder,so im still looking at some options.
