Title: TECH: U5000 flyback problem?
Post by: Q*Bert_OP on September 22, 2011, 03:39:37 pm
I have a U5000 that just came back for the second time from an industry known monitor repair center, to be unnamed, that still has an issue.

When the screen voltage is turned up high enough to see the gray text in the game, the picture goes out of focus and the light areas of the picture flicker. The focus adjustment doesn't fix the focus problem when screen voltage is turned up, but focuses well when the screen voltage is lowered.

Is the flyback bad? It is not cracked or arcing.

The tube has good emission and color tracking according the rejuvinator.

maybe there is a problem with the Focus/Screen divider on the flyback. if cranking the screen control results in an out of focus condition, i'd suspect there is something fishy going on. If you can source a replacement flyback, i'd try it for the hell of it... if it works... document it and send your "repair" company a bill for the replacement flyback.

The problem is NOT the flyback. An new was installed, focus problem is still present. I also moved this chassis to another CRT, and the problem follows the chassis...oh well, this game's going back on location for now.

Next time this one goes down, it's going to Chad Entringer...I went with another company that had much quicker turn around time, but it ended up taking much longer in the end, and it still doesn't work 100%
