Title: What's this silver tape on my monitor all about?
Post by: Trebeck on September 19, 2011, 10:53:24 pm
Can I get rid of it?  Can I spray paint it?

Thanks!

I guess you can, but you'd be better off rescessing (spellcheck) the monitor and adding a bezel.
Would bump the looks up a notch AND hide that tape! :D

Also, my two cents are that the tape is there to hold the degauss wire in place..?

I believe that is conductive tape designed to help give static electricity a path to flow to ground.

Sounds plausible.

Ahhhhh ok.  As long as it isn't holding anything together. I'll trim it back and spray paint the rest.
This is a first mask cut for the final version btw.  The end result won't be so ugly.  Just a nice floating monitor.
