A customer wants me to see see if I can repair his original Tempest arcade game. The picture is small and reversed. Anyone out there have experience with this same problem? Any tips on where to start looking for solutions?

I would start with the forums at KLOV. Those guys are great with X-Y stuff. It sounds more like an issue with the monitor, but I don't know much about those.
There may be something about it in the game manual or the monitor manual. Both should be up at http://arcarc.xmission.com/ (http://arcarc.xmission.com/)

Just start with the basics - test the voltages on the PCB and clean the connector board. Guessing it's more than that but those are good places to start that might lead to a quick fix.

Tempest (or any other vector game) is not for the beginner troubleshooter. THey need to be looked at by someone who *specialises* in vector games, or at least a veteran game tech. They are not nearly as simple as regular raster games.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'll be checking it out in a few days. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row before I actually see it in person.
