Is it possible to replace an existing PS2 DVD-Rom with one that is commercially available? I know this is possible with the Xbox, however choices are limited and you have to hack the xbox. Wanted to know if it was possible to do the same with a PS2.
OR for that matter if you could use a Xbox DVD in a PS2?
Thanks in advance

I wouldn't get your hopes up... They go out of their way to make it so you cant.
But search on goggle for ps2 hardware mods and you might find something

Why are you wanting to replace it?
If it's broken, then you can just replace it...
Just google for PS2 laser replacement (http://www.google.com/search?q=PS2+laser+replacement&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&start=20&sa=N)

You can send in your PS2 to Sony and they will send you a refurbished one.

No you cant get a PC dvd and replace it, the PS2 Dvd is specially built and I dont think it interfaces like a PC/Xbox drive.

Last time I was poking around inside a PS2 the DVD interface didn't look anything like "standard"...not IDE anyway...Sorry! :(
Is your DVD broken or just having trouble reading certain media? If it's the former, what Jakobud said; if it's the later, you can adjust the laser...just have to search a little for the info.
