Hey guys,
I have a MAME cab with a 3: Happ illuminated trackball. It won't spin up - just left and right. It will physically spin, but the cursor only registers going left or right. The mouse spins freely and I don't feel any binding. I took it apart and did not see anything unusual. It is connected via usb. It was working fine until the other day. It is pretty much in new condition. Built the cab a year or two ago, but no kidding have played only a dozen times. Any ideas where I should check? The encoder wheels seem to spin fine. Thanks!

One of my boards crapped out and did the same thing. I had the green boards and purchased the red boards and everything is fine. Some say that not grounding them fries the board.

Thanks! That very well may be it. The light did short out on it - that might have fried the boards. Where did you get the replacement boards? I have the green ones as well.

Twisted Quarter has replacement boards but if you have the USB interface you may need the kit with interface on a large board and smaller board. The USB kit has 2 different sized boards while the boards for green/red replacement are the same size and need something to connect to like an optipac or optiwiz.
The difference in price for 2 same size boards for $40 or whole USB 2 board kit $44.

Divemaster in Buy and Sell also handles Happs Trackballs and maybe able to give you a price.
