Title: Opportunity for you pinballers
Post by: DaOld Man on September 06, 2011, 09:55:51 pm
I got this email today.
I dont own any pinball machines, so Im sure it was sent to me by mistake.

Are the Nigerian con artists getting smarter? (I doubt it, but I do wonder if they are tapping into our BYOAC site?)
Lets see, he wants to buy a pinball machine, yet he is shipping one to Finland? I take back the first deduction.

GOOD DAY,
AM MR, JAMES ANDERSON AND I CAME ACROSS YOUR EMAIL AND NOTICE THAT YOU CAN PROVIDE ME WITH (PINBALL MACHINE) FOR SALE.AND IF YES,REPLY ME BACK WITH YOUR WEBSITE SO THAT I CAN SELECT THE ONE THAT I WILL LIKE TO ORDER,ALSO I AM SHIPPING THE (PINBALL MACHINE) TO ONE OF MY VENDING  IN FINLAND AND I WILL RECOMMEND A FREIGHT COMPANY FOR THE PICKED UP..THANK YOU AND HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON.
       James Anderson
       Jellard Enterprise.

Funny that he picked the name "Anderson". THere's a known con artist in the Hamilton/Toronto area named Anderson and pinball machines are one of his con targets.

We got the same e-mail. My wife e-mailed us back saying we don't sell pins, only arcades. He said he wanted 6. This isn't too unusual for us (changing from pins to arcades is, but not asking us about pins or companies buying several arcades), so she asked him for his shipping address.

When he said "Don't worry about that," we realized something was up. Hopefully, this will serve as a warning to others.

Here's the red flags:
1. This e-mail went out to everyone.
2. Changed from Pins to arcades without batting an eye
3. Asked for 6 without a discount
4. Business name doesn't pop-up on google
5. Wouldn't provide a shipping address

4 and 5 are the big red flags here.

Thanks Old Man for posting!
