Here is my kraylix Mame based on my vewlix kit. I have people requesting me to add trackball and spinner to my kraylix kit but I did not want to ruin the vewlix look so I'm starting to build a mame cabinet based on my kraylix kit.
Below is my Kraylix cabinet

The kraylix mame will have neither happs or ultimarc trackball. This will be a two player version.
The measurement are the same as the Kraylix cabinet. The only difference is this one will not have bevel edge and the control panel will be more of a traditional type MAME CP.
This is a Japanese style cabinet so this is a sit down type.
Here is the initial design.

First attempt cutting out the cabinet. The cabinet look good but I forgot to add buttons on the side CP.

On my second attempt I used melamine instead . I raised the TV up by a couple of inches so the CP does cover up any portion of the bottom screen.
Since I raised the TV it didn't leave me much room for the 4" audio speaker I plan to use. Instead I drilled a bunch of 1/8 holes vent for the speaker. I'm going to end up using the computer speakers instead.
I got all the buttons/joystick and trackball in and it fit perfectly. My next step is to decide on what artwork theme I want on it. At the moment I clueless to what I plan for the artwork.
And this time I added the buttons on the side.

Cool, nice job so far ;D I'm thinking about making a sit down cabinet that looks like a Astro City, but with a widescreen 32 inch monitor.
-
This one is designed for 32" TV also.

Yup, I kind of figured that, the perfect size
-
Yep 32" lcd is the new 25" crt :P
Looking great, you can put all those shoes into the coinbox as well :applaud:

THE kray?
very nice work man. Ive seen one of your cabinet in person  are you selling the new kit too?
-
Yes, I will sell them too as soon as I finish protoyping it to make sure everything fit right.
-
maybe it's just me, but it looks wider than normal. i like it.
one thought though... the 4-way stick looks too far in/too close to the screen. have you play tested it?

The cabinet is about 34" wide. I made it wider so there would be plenty of room for two player but in the picture it looks a lots wider looking straight at the cabinet though.
I haven't test play it yet but just sitting down moving the 4way stick it feel fine to me.

There will be plenty more shoes laying around when I complete the cabinet and all the neighbor kids come by.

Change the design to standing height them, more shoespace ;D

Some update..
Finish cutting the slot for the tmolding. I don't like the melamine the edge chip too easy. The artwork will cover it anyway.
Added the tv/glass and the coin door. The glass cover make it look really nice. I still need to paint the glass to cover the TV edge though.

Jeeze that looks awesome! My vewlix project seems to be coming along slower than molasses and projects like this help to keep me motivated. Good job.

Keep up the good work. I'm starting to want to make something Kraylix/Vewlix-ish.
