Post by: bramk on September 05, 2011, 05:31:20 pm
Hi Guys,

I think it's great to see so many enthusiasts in this forum. I got inspired to build a cabinet for my son and it's almost finnished.
take a look at http://videocoin.blogspot.com (http://videocoin.blogspot.com) to follow progress

Looks geweldig  :applaud:

Another dutch cabinet builder :) Where size does matter in our small country  :D

Something i had stumbled uppon, that harddisk, how did you mount it? When i mount it directly on the wood i get a lot of resonating , i had to put it on rubber pads to get it silent

Cheers

Thanks !
The disk is mounted in a plastic bracket. You can find them in DELL optiplex 780. The plastic is melted at some parts with a soldering iron to make it fit the IDE cable because it is originally for a sata connector.
Haven't noticed the resonating yet, but i'll listen to it with some more attention and see if it needs some rubber pads ;p

Almost finnished!!  :D :D

Some minor things to do.

- create a new bezel, this one is too sloppy. I have to do some router practice first as i'm not experienced with that
- create powerbutton on the back of the cabinet. Now it has the pc power switch inside of the cabinet
- configure mame front end
- bring the arcade to his room ;p
- update the blog

Nice work.  I'm really starting to dig these minis...  I've even entertained the thought of building a mini arcade.  You could have different cabs dedicated to different genres.  A fighter, retro, vertical, pinball... For a fraction of the cost.
