Looking for a company that would have smoked plexi for sale and willing to ship.
Thanks for any links or ideas.

What are you looking for? Color, size, thickness, etc. And where are you located?
-
Recently I caught a thread that mentiond Tap Plastics (/www.tapplastics.com (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/www.tapplastics.com)), I will probably make an order to them within the week.
-
I am close to chicago. I am not sure of the thickness needed (maybe 1/8th or less?). Any shade will do if it stays in the gray family. I need it for a Stargate and a Cliff Hanger. I am pretty sure that Cliff Hanger was clear, but I want it tinted.
Thanks...

+1 for Tap plastics.

Not sure what to order on the website....Am I looking at the Acrylic Sheets Transparent Colors?

Yes, I believe the transparent solar grey color is what was recommended. This thread: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=112245.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=112245.0) has a bit of discussion about it.
I'm close to Chicago, too (northwest Indiana)

Depending on the size, I may have that as polycarbonate scrap. What size are you looking for?

I'm in need of two ~1/8" thick 8"x8" panels, if you happen to have any laying around let me know.
-
Do they need holes, or just 8" squares? Rounded corners?
-
I have 2 different shades of grey. I will pull some out, take a pic and post them. Just let me know if they are the right transparency level.
-
Just 8" squares, no holes or anything special.

Home Depot has it. They call it "bronzed" plexi or something like that. Very reasonable price, too.

Sorry for the delay on the pics. We have been super busy at the shop. I will take pics in the morning and post them up.
-
I feel almost embarrassed to ask but I have to start thinkin about this cus I'm almost done with my first cab. What's the difference between tinted/smoked and regular plexiglass. What does either one offer over the other and what's the advantage or disadvantage of either?
-
I think its just kind of a preference thing. I like the look of the smoked as opposed to clear. I think the picture also looks great through a light tint and the tint will also conceal some screen burn to a point.
-
can the tinted stuff be edge-lit?
-
It can, but you need a polished edge to get better light dispersion. The clear and colored (translucent) stuff will all edge light. If the edges (3 of them any way)are going to be visible, there is a very cool looking series of acrylic called blue glass and green glass. The edge has the look of glass instead of being clear on the edge like regular acrylic.
It turns out I only have one shade of Polycarbonate laying around. I will keep searching cause I would swear I had 2. Anyway here are a couple of pics of what we have. If this shade works for you, we have lots of pieces 48" x apx 24" taking up space. The customer who buys them has no use for the rems, and at some point we will have to either recycle them or just throw them away.

That might work, any chance the other shade you might have is darker?
-
I am cleaning the shop over the next week. If I find any of the other shade, I will post it right away. I think this is 50% transmission polycarbonate. I will see if I can find one of the delivery receipts to confirm that.
-
I think I found some darker stuff today. I will post a pic on Monday.
-
Sorry, I didnt make it by Monday. javascript:void(0);
I just couldnt get to it.
