Title: Aimtrak Complete Boxed Guns Available
Post by: AndyWarne on September 01, 2011, 03:56:37 pm
We now have ready-to-go Aimtrak guns. Full info here:
http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html (http://www.ultimarc.com/aimtrak.html)

The "Gun housing kits" have been removed from the store as no longer relevant but we will still have them by special request. The electronics kits will still be available for those who wish to build into their own guns.

Hi Andy, I just bought two of the housings etc!

Is this just the same but assembled? I mean no software updates or anything?

Thanks

Will you be selling assembled guns without led bars for 2 player set ups? Or possibly 2 guns in one package?

There is one small difference, the firmware has a flag which causes the config utility to only display the trigger and two buttons. Other than that there is no difference to a gun built with the older kits.

I will need to think about this but at the moment we only have the complete kits in 2 colors. 2 guns in one pack would mean 3 different combinations of colors...

Glad to see this finally done.  I'm currently in the planning stages for a dedicated shooting cab and was debating on going with a pistol style gun or a rifle style (similiar to whats on the Ghost Squadron games).  You might have just helped make my choice.

I don't know how necessary that is.  The purchaser would only save a few bucks anyway.  May as well buy two complete guns, and you'll have a spare sensor bar to boot.  You can put one bar on your cab, and the other on a TV elsewhere in the house.

EDIT:  Then again, maybe it's not a bad idea to have the option available.  I notice the Aimtrak kit without the sensor bar is $8 cheaper.  Presumably the sensor bar in the boxed gun would be worth a little more (perhaps $15) as it also has the black plastic housing, which the sensor bar in the kit doesn't have.

Looking at the shop, you'll pay $202 USD or more (including the minimum $12 shipping cost) for two complete guns.  I know they're the best arcade gun solution for MAME, and worth every cent.  But nonetheless, that's a fair amount of money.  Perhaps it would be worthwhile having an option to save $15 by getting the second gun without the sensor bar.

Andy - Can you post some pics of the blue gun either here or on your site?

Thanks

I guess you've noticed the blue gun is pictured on the Aimtrak box (as shown in Andy's initial post) ?

But yeah, a hi-res picture would be nice.

Love ya Andy but your website needs some help.  I click on the STORE link (which is absurd in itself... the PRODUCT INFO pages should be integrated in to your store but I digress) and then click the LIGHT GUN, TRACKBALL & SPINNER link only to find ... nothing about your light gun...

:(

Excellent, I'm glad you're still advancing with your light guns.

I need a second gun, but I'm holding out for a shot gun, any plans for one?

Frizz, you're right, I also thought this was odd.  You click on that link, and all the trackball and spinner items come up, but there are no lightguns.  To get to the Aimtrak order page, you need one more click ... you need to click on the "AimTrak Light Gun" link in the "Store Sections" menu of that page.

Not cheap but probably wouldn't be hard to mod the Aimtrak into it.

I have corrected the store link. The menu on the left was correct.

The reason the site is separated into information and store sections is that some of the products have up to 5 pages of information. But welcome any suggestions to improve.

Here is the blue gun kit:

For us "old" aimtrack customers,it could be possible to have the led sensor case only?
And the gun sensor cover(if the kit you do is complete with this too)?
I mean the little circled cover that "close" the gun where the sensor is...

Blue and Black.

Read Andy's initial post, he's given the link with all the Aimtrak info.

Hi Andy any ideas when we will get vibration or recoil on these, also how far can i come to the screen with these.
I am also wondering I have a naomi sit down cab where would be the most appropriate place to put the sensor bar
where the marquee is?

I am so jumping in on this thread, just to keep track of where the awesome is.  No, I won't be incorporating guns into my STTP3 cab, but maybe next cab... ...or... ...well...  DAMMIT.  Stop making me reconsider adding guns to my build!!!

anyone tried this?

shell looks kinda ok. maybe its smaller than the standard ultimarc shell. I am still doing my research.

We

Who's "we"?

Why is it always such a crime to say "we" on the forums, jim? Despite what you might think, not everyone is confined and logging in from ma's basement.

;)

James, kthx, and because a lot of "out of my garage" operations like to use the term "we" instead of "I" because they think it makes them sound like they have employees and are a legit operation.

Get ripped off a few times by hobbyist "we" people and get back to me.

I'm a fan of most of your postings here, very entertaining stuff. However, I can see what you're getting at but I think it's almost totally irrelevant in this thread especially. To think that Andy has never had an assistant, or help on one of his projects and especially this one is kinda ridiculous. If someone even helped him for 5 minutes, or answered a simple question in an email...that could certainly warrant the reason to say "we" vs "I".
