Hi Guys,
I'm busy here with my first Mame cab. I got the whole pc thing setup inside and hyperspin installed, everything is working like a charm. But now i want to redo the control panel as it only has 3 buttons for each player, and i want to have 6 so i can play all those cool fighters :). I would like to know is someone here has done a Royal Video Arcade cab and is willing to share some information on how to make a new Control Panel. I don't have a clue on how to mount a new control panel on the existing cab.
I'll post some pictures on how the cab is looking tomorrow as it's past midnight in Holland :)
Thx!

That is a gorgeous cab, dripping with vintage vibe. What is "Royal Video"- a game system, or a brand? My google skills failed me, and I don't think we have that kind of cab in the USA.

i think Royal Video was a brand back in the days. The cab is from 1991 the info states it's a Royal Video Compact cab. Do you have any idea on how i should make a CP? I was thinking of cutting off the whole panel mount and making a new one of MDF/plywood with original graphics on it.

Wow, 1991? The style is straight from 1981! ;D
Not sure about the new CP... you could maybe move the leftmost button in each row of three up to be equal with the others, then add another row of three underneath. Could be a little tight, but a lot easier than making a whole new CP. The joystick placement looks good already, etc.

i could do that, but i want a bigger CP as when i'm playing with friends right now we don't have any room! We're really playing shoulder t shoulder now :D so i want something bigger like the X-arcade tankstick perhaps but i want to make it myself as i find €249 a bit to much money for that thing

really nice cab indeed
Royal Video was a Dutch brand. We see them a lot around here in different models. These cabs were build/imported by a company called JVH gaming.
a friend of mine has this one http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=royal-big-video&page=detail&id=38788 (http://www.arcade-history.com/?n=royal-big-video&page=detail&id=38788)

You could make a little sketch and see how this works out. Proportions are important. But if you have an idea yourself share and questions about the technique are no problem to get answers on.
