Title: Thoughts on LCD monitor for smallish arcade cab?

I agree the "VGA" port look alot like an S-video out. Please double check......

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this - it's $100 but I haven't seen anything cheaper (or easier to hook up to a computer). I'd be interested in a broken portable DVD player but I don't know how to make the connection and most of those things only come in 16:9...

Will the monitor automatically power on when power is applied after being off, or will it need the power button pushed?
Does it remember the last input? I have an RCA TV that needs to be reset using the remote if it's ever unplugged or there is a power outage to tell it to use the Svideo port.

Look on Ebay for Thinkpad 240X. Should be powerful enough for most emulators.

Yeah, but he could still use an external monitor with a laptop. Laptops have their own issues. How to power on, will the video ribbon cable be long enough to flip the laptop over, etc.
