I just picked up a Daytona Usa twin. #2 works perfect but #1 is having monitor issues. It starts up good, goes through test and sound good but the monitor does not power up. No glow in neckboard.
The first manual says the following:
(Monitor fails to power up.) S Check continuity of the 7Amp SB fuse located beside the Transformer in the main base.
The next manual says to do the following if monitor is black:
First remove the cause of overcurrent, then
replace the fuse (refer to Sec. 17).
FUSE 10A 250V
Section 17 says "fuses are placed in the power supply."
So I have checked the continuity of those fuses pictured below next to transformer and power supply and only the very top one was blown (32v 15amp).
Am I even checking the right place. The manual is very confusing and does not list where everything is at very clearly. Please help me. Noobie trying to learn. The monitor is the standard med res nanao one but with an unknown chasis. no labels anywhere. Please help.

to start with it will not be a 32v fuse
that is for the low side of the power supply
ie 24v/12v/5v reg's etc
what u need to find first and for most is the monitor getting 117vac ?
if u have a volt meter
trace the black and white wire's comming from the monitior to the power strip
chk there for 117vac,if it is there UNPLUG the machine
and look on the monitor chassic for a :line: fuse,it will
as a rule be tied to the :black: wire going to the monitor
and see if it is open ?,with a meter diode range chk for counity
if it is there then u need to dig deeper
rem the last to chk's are done with the :power-off:,
ie un-plug the machine for saftey sake

Ok. so I followed the power line from the chasis to the ac plug. I checked the fuses on the chasis for continuity and they are good. I looked all over the chasis and did not see anything out of the ordinary. How do I check for 117vac? New to using a multimeter.

all multimeter's have an ac/dc/ohm's ranging
in the AC part
if it is manual u will typ. have a high voltage range
ie 0-200 vac
in that range,look for the white and black wire's that go to the monitor
follw them up to the monitor chassic,the hot (black) is on 1 side of the fuse on the monitor ,
the white return ,as a rule goe's into a choke..after the fuse on the chassic,and to it's white return u should beable to read the :line: voltage:,with the machine turned on and the monitor pluged in..NOW BE VERY CAREFULL that is at line voltage
ie 120 vac and shorting that and or touching that will give the mother of all wake up calls
so chk it at the chassic fuse as i said above and u should have 120vac
this answer's your power to the monitor question..
my question to u is what type of moniotor are they using,and i will dig out it's service manual and try to guide u some more

I attached pictures of the chasis. I am still unsure what you mean on where to check? I put the multimeter in the ac range and check? I have checked the two fuses for continuity and both are good. All of the solder joints look good too after checking bottom. Thanks Ed12 for helping me with this. I believe that this monitor is a Nanao MS 8-26SU.

ok where u see the black and white wire go in
u will note a fuse and a realy
the white is 120vac return
the black is routed through the fuse to the right of the realy
this is where u will find 120vac
from there u are going to the :switch-side: through the realy,into a dc recifiter
ie a bridge/4-didoes how ever they did it.
if it is a nano,look in ken layton's post's on known monitor's and there :dead: sympton's
here on our site....,from here we go to the dc side so your multimeter will
be changing range's ie dc instaed of ac.
i will look the nano's up to see if they are :switch-mode:
which i they are.?
and then guide u some more,if anything u are going to get a lesson in multimetter's

I will test this tonight. Thanks again Ed12. From review, it looks like these Nanao monitors are a pain in the butt to work on.

Had it checked. Needs a new chassis. :(

if it is a ms8-26 you will have a tough time finding a replacement-they are a high impedence yoke and i am sure 0.300mh inductance,very oddball
unless the flyback is toast them its worth repairing
there are 2 fuses on the chassis-check them both

your olny move in this respect is to find a wg chassic :with: a yoke
at least then u can get part's and more tech input
