Title: PAPA 14 World Pinball Championships
Post by: CCM on August 11, 2011, 04:39:44 pm
Just saw an article in my local paper that this is going on.

I'm not a huge pinball guy and never realized the PAPA headquarters is right outside of Pittsburgh, I live about 15 miles from their location.  Hell, I never even heard of PAPA until I read the article.

Yeah, it's a pretty big deal. You should drop in and check things out this weekend.

Well , I finally put my laziness aside yesterday and decided to take the ride and check this place out.

UNBELIEVABLE!  It's like a casino filled with row after row after row of pinball machines instead of slots.

There are over 400 games from every era and manufacturer including ZACCARIA and RECEL.  I really enjoyed the Zaccaria games with their funky bonus ball Count Up/Count down feature and their strange 8 digit gas displays.

All the games were super clean and in pretty good working order overall.

All games require tokens to play with the newer games at 2 tokens for 3 balls and the older games at 1 token for 5 balls. Extra balls and one replay award are available if you are good enough.

I was wondering how this event compares to the Allentown Pa. event. Has anyone around here been to both and can you offer up a comparison?

Still just can't get over this place.  Found this bit of eye candy.

Let's hope this location doesn't get flooded again.

Its hard to imagine so many great machines being wiped out of history... and then the guy pops more into the same area.

Its flooded before, and just because this was some sort of freak weather related incident... doesnt mean another similar thing wont happen again, especially with todays crazy climate situations.

AFAIK, theres nothing put in place to prevent this again.  No pumps, surrounding damn-hills, raised floor, water-proof building w/ high entrance ways...  nada

Seems a bit ignorant and irresponsible to me.
