Okay, this is kind of embarrasing but I've spent 20 minutes trying to work this out. :banghead:
I can't work out how the microswitch sits in the led holder thingy. The only way it goes together, when you press the button the white thing misses the little red button on the microswitch.
I'm sure I'm being really thick here, but will someone please enlighten me.
Here's a photo to illustrate :

Bump, still at a loss. I've looked at my old bartop control panel with standard buttons (it's been a while) and that doesn't really tell me anything other than the plastic bit should be lining up with the microswitches.
-
Button fits in sideways with the ground or common on the outside. The liittle pins hold the button in place so the plunger can hit the button in the proper place.
In the disassembled pic the red on the button should face down so the plunger can hit it.
-
Looks like it just needs rotated to me. ???
The lamp holder goes in the same way as the tail-light of a car.
Push in and twist.
-
Rotate the light/switch assembly 180 degrees.
-
Lol, it looks that easy but the Bayonet Fit LED holder has those little notches on the side and they slot into button base only one way. Once they are in there you can't rotate it.
Edit - if no-one can work out whats going on by tommorow, I'll post up a quick vid to show you I'm not totally mad. :)

Once they are in, they should rotate about as much as the plunger is being missed. :lol
If one side has the notch higher than the other and it was put in 180 degrees backwards, then it would go in, but not rotate.
-
Well, I've got no idea. I've tried them both ways and there is absolutely no way I can see of rotating them once they are in without breaking them.
I've also tried giving them to someone else who can't do it either ???

You're not trying hard enough. The answer is ALWAYS "twist harder". You aren't the first person to have this problem.

Get a bigger hammer.

Jesus H. You were right, honestly though it seemed like it was gonna break, the plastic was bending.
Any road, problem solved - pretend this thread never happened.

Yeah, most people don't do it right the first time. I even mentioned it in my review (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=82468.0):
The bayonet LED holder uses a locking feature to hold the LED and microswitch. Simply insert the LED, push the bayonet into the pushbutton, and twist. There is a mark showing which side the positive leg of the LED should face, taking the guess work out of things. Don't be scared when installing these bayonets, because you have to put a bit of force on them to twist them properly into place. Once locked in, they'll hold fine. I never had a problem with any bayonets fitting improperly. Everything worked as it should.
