Title: bootup logo

It seems like many lcds show the brands logo immediately after turning on before showing other stuff.  Is this something that can be removed?

Not on most LCDs.

most monitors can be just left powered... they will go "standby" when the signal disappears... once you boot again, the monitor just starts displaying.
