Title: Help removing NEOGEO banner/bezel in MAME
Post by: mbird59 on August 02, 2011, 04:55:23 pm
Hi,

I have mame version 0.142 with the Mala frontend. When I run NeoGeo games I get a banner at the top of the display saying NEOGEO featuring SNK... I assumed that this would be controlled by changing the value of use_bezels artwork etc. but changing these values makes no difference.

I have tried running command line mame without the mala frontend and I get the same result.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
mick

Hit TAB, go to the VIDEO OPTIONS, turn off either Bezel or Overlays.  I can't remember which one it is for NeoGeo, but you will have to do that for every NeoGeo game.  Alternately, you could use a .ini file for NeoGeo with that single setting.

Thanks for your help I have created a neogeo.ini with use_bezels = 0 and it works a treat.

When I run Street Fighter games I also get artwork at the side and along the bottom. Is there another ini file I can add to remove these. If there is can you please tell me what it needs to called and I assume it will be the same entries as the neogeo.ini.

I suppose failing this I can create a file for each game but I would really rather not.

Thanks,
Mick

These are the options from the mame.ini:
#
# CORE ARTWORK OPTIONS
#
artwork_crop              0
use_backdrops             1
use_overlays              1
use_bezels                1

I think there used to be a use_artwork flag, but I don't see that in there now. The sides and bottom are probably the bezel.
