Just curious--would anyone be interested in providing webspace to store original arcade cabinet dimensions? i.e. you could build your own centipede, q-bert, pac-man etc. cab ala carsten's centipede--would anyone be interested in having those plans? (not by me exclusively as I only own 2 cabs)
I just thought that was a neat idea but difficult for people who don't have access to original cabs.
I could provide (upon serious request only):
q-bert
berzerk
tron
centipede
burgertime (peter pepper version)
turbo
pole position II
battlezone
fast freddie
tempest
neo-geo
asteroids (maybe)
Given the crackheads that are on E-bay I thought a disclaimer is warranted:
All drawings posted to this thread are the property of their respective posters (owner) and may not be sold or reproduced for commercial purposes without the express written permission of the creater (poster/owner) of the drawing. This does not include the recreations of commercial cabinets as their trademarks are held by their respective companies.
So in other word if I see any of my drawings or those of others shared with the community on e-bay I will asked that they be removed in violation of the above disclaimer--this will apply to commercially available cabinets as well, unless you can prove that atari or whomever has approved their design for sale.
-
I would gladly host the plans.
-
I would like to built a Tempest cab, so any dimensions you can get for that cab would be nice.
-
I would be more than happy to throw a web site together and host everything. It's an idea I have been thinking of for a while now.
If you are interested give me a shout lostboy@webxnetwork.com
-
I'm interested and I'll do anything I can to help. I've only got a few "real" arcade games, but I'd be willing to help with that.
I have a Ms. Pac, Jr Pac (actually converted from a galaxian, so it's the same cab as pac man) and Baby Pac Man...while Baby is part pin, it still is a neat design and the pinball playfield leaves a lot of space for a CP.
anyway, yes, there's interest :D
-
I will knock something up over the next few days and we can see how it goes from there if you want.
-
ok--cool--wasn't sure if there would be any interest in this--I'll get the tempest dimensions next time I'm at my brothers place (its his as are most of the ones on the list :P). We should also decide on a format to be used--I'm fluent in autocad and microstation but not many people are so we may need something more generic--thoughts?
-
I can provide some measurements (although not full plans) on request for the following cabinets.
ATW/Artic minis. (larger mini, holds a 19" monitor).
Kangaroo/Dig Dug/Centipede/Arabian (All used same cabinet).
Crystal Castles/Millipede (the upright Star Wars cabinet shares most of the measurements with these two).
The Standard Midway 8080 cabinet (Amazing Maze, Asteroid, and about 20 other pre-invaders games). Think "Short, wide, and no marquee" This one would be VERY easy to build. If you are unsure of your skills, then go with this one.
Battlezone - Only good thing about this cabinet is the step, makes it good for a household with both kids and adults.
-
i can help out here i got 20 mg webspace you can use for a bit of storage,i also got a pacman cocktail,a orignal tekken2 monster cab ,a space invader, and i hope soon a defender cab
singion
-
Cool--since have absolutely no idea how to create a webpage ??? What format for the drawings would be easiest to store, take up the least space and be easily managed--I was thinking just Jpg's of drawings would work okay with legible dimensions--that way if you have no cad experience whatsoever you could hand draw it and then scan it in--it would have to be somewhat to scale or at the very least very well dimensioned--since thats the point.
-
here's rough draft of my cab jpg. I haven't included the front view cause no one but me would ever want to build this monstrosity ;D
-
When they come out of storage I'd be happy to contribute measurements of my Karate Champ Vs. machine, and my Atari Football cab.
Of course, I have to find a house first...
-
I can do measuements of my double dragon II cab which will cover ALOT of games :)
i hav rough measurements now as that is my microcab I am doing for the contest.
-
I can pitch in with dimentions as I have an Asteroids and a Mortal Combat 4. Both full size uprights. :)
-
Kangaroo/Dig Dug/Centipede/Arabian (All used same cabinet).
you have Arabian? man, you reminded me that game exists. Well, gotta go try it out in mame.
-
Kangaroo/Dig Dug/Centipede/Arabian (All used same cabinet).

No, I don't have an Arabian. I have a Kangaroo, it is just the same cabinet. I do know someone who has one though (Stephen Hulett, aka noice87, aka 73ford.com, also known as the guy with the Moppet video fetish).
-
I have an A.P.B. to add.
-
alright--now we're picking up steam--I will start posting here and if someone wants to dedicate a little webspace later and pluck them that would prolly be the easiest--we all have lives outside of MAME (at least most of us do ;D) so we'll go nice and easy.
-
Oh, and since I still have them kicking around, you can add the early Sega/Gremlin mini (Turbo, Space Firebird, Monaco GP, and others), and a generic Cherry Master cabinet (No marquee, all doors) to the list.
I DOUBT anyone would want to build a 13" Centuri cocktail, but I do have one of those as well. It really has too much metal and glass for the average home builder to mess with.
You might want to get in contact with kspiff if you want measurements for the best 19" cocktail design around (the Cinematronics one). The reason I say it is the best design is because it has a pair of 24" wide control panels, and it takes the monitor in either orientation (which puts the always popular Midway cocktail to shame).
-
ooooh--that does sound like a nice one to have--whether he's willing to take dimesnsions and draw a nice picture is another thing thougy! Keep the fingers crossed.
-
I can do a Moon Patrol, and a Dynamo cab, but I'm unsure how to measure the angles.
-
Peale, you dont need to worry about the angles. Just measure all the lengths of all the straight edges and the angles can be determined mathematically. Its like in construction, someone doesnt measure the pitch of a roof by measuring it's angle. They measure its rise and run and then use math to determine the angle. You could just measure all the straight edges on your cabinet and post it and someone will figure out the rest for you.
Who is heading up this project and who is hosting the files?
-
I don't know if anyone really needs to head the project since we'll just be posting drawings with dimensions--I'm in no position to check for accuracy outside the 2 machines I own and the 6 I have access to. We might be better off left in the forum so that others with machines can check and maybe correct anything they catch. sound reasonable?
Here's a rough q-bert--I've ommitted coin door and marquee--since they are fairly standard--If you absolutley HAVE to have everything ...(go buy one ;) j/k)
-
Unless someone else particularly wants to do it, I would be more than happy to host these. I've started it on the cabinet's page:
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/arcade_cabinet_plans.shtml#dimensions

congrats manic you made fisrt cab plan ;D ;D ;D :o :o
i get to work on one of my cabs and get a pic posted

I'll do the dynam cab, I have most of the measurments right now anyway :)

Saint, side shots aren't a enough for many cabinets.
-
I can donate the dimensions for a pac man cab. 1up might have that covered though.

-
I'm late!
I've got an autocad-file of the Centipede upright cab - even with correct roundings. Just have to look at home for the correct version, but I could post it here. :)
@Saint
You could grab the dimensions of the cab from my homepage, look under fist drawings :)
It contains a .jpg and a table showing the regarding dimensions.
-
I could grab some dimensions on my Xmen cab when I go home this weekend. It may not be as 'classic' as some others, but the design does seem pretty popular with some people here.
-
Updated with Carlos' Centipede - thanks Carlos! And in answer to other questions...
SP: Nod, front dimensions would be useful too I agree.
Donators: Thank you, yes please do measure your cabinets and post or send them in. If you can get the front as well that'd be great. Thanks!

....
Kangaroo/Dig Dug/Centipede/Arabian (All used same cabinet).
Paige,
Actually, I can't speak for Arabian but Centipede definitely has a different cabinet than Dig Dug and Kangaroo (control panel is smaller, doesn't stick out as far).

Looking carefully at all four cabinets on Klov shows that there seems to be a tiny difference in the shape of the wood on the sides, but I believe they all still use the exact same sized glass, control panels, marquees, and so on, so parts like that should swap around between cabinets (I have certainly seen several Kangaroo's "restored" to Centipede in the past, so I know the parts must fit.
-
Donators: Thank you, yes please do measure your cabinets and post or send them in. If you can get the front as well that'd be great. Thanks!
Sent where? Direct to you? I'm going to measure my Reactor cab when I get home. I'll post them as soon as I can get them together.
-
Post here would be best, but you can also email to me at saint@arcadecontrols.com ... Thanks! :)

Defender cabinet dimensions can be found here:
http://www.arcaderestoration.com/index.asp?OPT=3&CBT=66 (http://www.arcaderestoration.com/index.asp?OPT=3&CBT=66) (also see this (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=7640) thread). My MAME cabinet is a modified Defender cabinet and I can verify that these are correct.
Also I noticed some dimensions for a Galaga/Ms PacMan and a Galaxian/PacMan cabinet here:

My mate is building a TRON cab at the minute, and needs the plans. He alreay has the control panel with stick and spinner, and jest needs some cab schematics - so if anywaone could oblcige I'd be grateful on his behalf.
I dont have room for a full cab, but I am building a MAME loaded PC *inside* a 2 player control panel. Spent all day cutting and drilling, tomorrow the assembly begins.

Not so fast, I love those off the wall ones!

them defender plans are a mess

Okay so I used to do a lot of AutoCAD for a living and could easily draw up all of these plans in a standard format that anyone could use and read easily. And then I could host them on my website (cause wading thru this thread, I can't tell where these things are being hosted). I could do some major cleanup work on these drawings and if anyone wanted me to draw up some plans from scratch I could easily do that too. I could host the Autocad files and maybe PDF conversions of everything too. Would anyone be interested in me doing this?
-
So, Jakobud. Basically, if I go measure up my cabinets, and then make some basic drawings, and send you the info, then you can make up some plans?
Right on! With your OK, I will start measuring my Midway 8080 cabinet tommorrow.

Yep, he helped me with drawing the sides of my Centipede-cab 18 months ago, thanx again! As you can see the final product turned out well :)

Yeah exactly. I can draw up whatever you want. And then on my website I could easily make a little section dedicated to hosting all these plans. I can host an actual Autocad file for each plan, and also maybe a PDF and JPEG or some vector format that everyone can read.
-
I was going to try to do the autocad thing to the dimensions for the Joust Cocktail Edgedamage measured for us. I just can't seem to find the time. The measurements are here if you want to try to draw them out Jakobud.

-
Birdtales,
I'm afraid I'm gonna need a little more than that.... or something different at least... In almost all those pictures I can't tell what part it is and I can't tell from where you are measuring from.. the easier thing to do would be to just draw some basic dimensions on a piece of paper, scan it and send it to me. I will look again through those drawings but at first glance I couldnt tell what was what.
-
Not my pics. Edgedamage needed some place to put them. I'll try to decypher them again I guess. :)
-
I have a page for this at http://www.arcadecontrols.org/arcade_cabinet_plans.shtml#dimensions -- I'd be happy to host your cad files if you'd like, or equally as well if you'll give me a heads up I'll link to your page from the page above and post news blurbs when you make updates? Looking forward to seeing them!

I noticed something, Even though many of these are JAMMA cabinets they use standard units, not metric. Everything comes out to an even measurement in standard. I noticed that with my Dynamo cabinet too. BTW, I have almost all the measurements just I don;t have CAD skills right now. I'm not sure if I will get my mini cabinet done fore the contest.
-
I think I can make Autocad automatically adjust the units to SI or US units. I can post two versions of cad files if necessary.
-
I don't want to step on anyones toes, but if you are interested I would be happy to host your website (I can put it together as well, no problems), and have an extra domain name that can be used. If you are interested, just send an email to webmaster@classic-game-remakes.com
-
Maybe there could be a set of mirror sites so if one goes down the others have the info. I know every time I NEED something from a hobby web site, the sitre goes down about 2 seconds before I finish typing the address.
Probably not necessary, but if we establish this as a "no one entity owns it" movement from the beginning we won't have the it-used-to-be-free-but-now-it's-$20 problem later.
-
Hehe...well if it makes you feel any better, just because i have them hosted, i wouldn't ever charge money for dimensions of these cabs. I'm not here for money. Just for the hobby.

Apparently a site that has Dragons Lair, Tron, Space Duel and Asteroids!!!!
-
This site has awesome Autocad DWG's and PDF's of Galaga, Dragons Lair, Tempest, a cocktail and a generic. I am using the Galaga for a mini Ms Pacman for my son! I just scaled the drawing in Autocad for my needs (65%). The author used real dimensions, so they scaled as well.

I'd be VERY interested in TRON dimensions and drawings, I'm trying to build a replica cabinet as it costs twice the US cost of an old TRON machine to ship it from the US to the UK.
I've been buying old components, but until I can get the plans for a cabinet I can't even think about putting the bits together.
My intention is to put up a website on how I built this thing once it's complete, as it's going to have a MAME PC inside instead of an old flakey board set. So any help I can get will be duly noted. And I'd be happy to either host plans or have links to other pages.
-
Okay guys, I have added a Cabinet Plans section to my website. I am going to make available DWF, PDF, and JPG versions of cabinet plans. So far the only thing I have put together are some Centipede plans. I am going to be adding more. If you guys have any plans you want me to draw up just email me (hopefully you have some dimensions in some sort of form for me to use).
Go there: www.jakobud.com (http://www.jakobud.com)
Start sending me links and cabinet plans for whatever you want drafted :)

Anyone have access to dimensions for a Battlezone Cabaret? I'd be interested in the regular Battlezone dimensions as well, but a cabaret would be super-sweet.
Thanks in advance. This thread is a great idea, Mame is to preserve the games, the dimensions archive can preserve the actual cabinet designs....
Thanks.

menace if you could come up with some dimensions for all of those cabinets I would love to draft them and put them up. When you draw up some dimensions it would be fine if you just drew up sketches on a piece of paper and fax it to send to me. Don't worry about making it all neat.
-
Does anyone have an upright Atari Star Wars that they could measure up the dimensions for ?. I have been collecting all the parts and would love to be able to put them in a cabinet that is replica of the original.
-
jakobud--can i send you a quick microstation file instead? I will try and get some measurements next time I'm at my brother's--won't be all at once since we have to pull them out to measure but I'll trickle them in as they come.
-
I don't know what Micostation is. Some sort of CAD program i take it? I 'might' be able to figure out how to read that in to Autocad... maybe there is a plugin or something. Feel free to send it. But all you need to do is quickly sketch out the rough shape of the cabinet on a piece of paper and draw some dimensions, scan it and email it to me. You obviously dont need to worry about it being to scale or anything like that. Heck you could draw it with crayon if you had too as long as the dimensions were legible.
update: yeah go ahead and send me a microstation file if you want. *.DGN filetype, right? I think I can find a way to get that into autocad.
-
nicely done!

Things have moved on further in the last couple of days, I've now got an original tron coin door and monitor bezel to add to my control board, I've tracked down most of the parts apart from the artwork behind the bezel. I've also agreed a price with an extremely talented patern maker I know to make the custom panels. ;D
In a nutshell any plans you guys can come up with will be absolutley brilliant, because I have the equivelant of one of those 5000 piece jigsaws and no box!
A huge thank you in advance...

Hi folks
Does anybody know where I can get my hands on plans/dimensions for a dedicated Gyruss machine?
thanks
-
Guys, another offer to host anything you want (plans, graphic scans etc). website is under construction right now, but more than happy to setup the ftp site for you.
I have built a pacman based on the plans found the on the net both upright and cocktail and they are spot on. Looking at starting to sell finished cabs in the UK also.
attached is an old pic of the pacman cabinet before the joystick and coin door went on
Would like to especially find the plans /dimensions for a Nintendo cab (DK, popeye etc)

Here's Tron and Tempest--As always corners are all rounded to allow for t-molding (straight lines drawn for simplicity) the tron has no sharp angles whatsoever except at the floor. I didn't measure any bezels or anything because they are a standard package (and would be a ---smurfette--- to measure) The same applies to tempest--where t-molding goes around a corner, that corner is curved. Enjoy! And post pics of finished products!
-
And tempest...
-
Just as a courtesy folks--if you use the plans and then post them on a website--could you give the guy who originally measured and posted the plans a nod (i.e me)--nobody likes it when you pass off someone else's work as your own ;D
-
I measured an "Asteroids Deluxe" cabinet about a year ago. I can post my drawings if there is any interest.
I also have decent dimensions for "Loco Motion" - a standard Konami cabinet I believe (same as used for Phoenix). My measurements were interpolated from the width/height dimensions posted on their flyer, and a good side angle photograph. I am building a MAME cabinet based on those dimensions.
Also, a hint for the rounded corners: I cut straight angles. Then later I used a Pepsi bottle cap for the small rounded corners, and a spray paint can for the larger rounded corners. Worked out pretty well.

Sweet, Tempest and Tron....two designs I have had a hard time finding. Thanks a bunch menace. I will post those right away. And I will add credit to the respective people too. Good suggestion. I am also toying with the idea of offering SVG (scalable vector graphics) on top of all the other formats I am offering.... that is, if I can find a DWG2SVG converter...
I'm working on a couple other drawings at the moment. I'll have them up soon.
Guys if you have dimensions for ANY cabs, please feel free to send them to me and I will post them. I'm trying to start an archive and its gonna take some time but I know a lot of people here have access to cabs. There is actually an arcade about 2 hours from where I live with pretty much every single classic in it. I'm thinking about driving all the way there just to measure them all :) Anyways, send me your dimensions. Goto my website for details.
-
Thanks again Menace.
I'll post pics of the cab as soon as it's built.

this is great, keep em coming ;D

A ms. pac cocktail would be great to have detailed drawings on. Basically:
- The sides
- Where to place speaker panels/coin door/cps
- Dimensions for the wood that surrounds the cp
- How far recessed the panels are on the ms. pac. Ms. Pac cocktails' side panels went out farther than their front panels.
- For the top there are already detailed drawings floating around
-
Okay if you can point me to some of the plans out there for a MS Pacman cocktail then I would be happy to draw them up.
I am currently working on both Pacman/Galaxian and Ms Pacman/Galaga cabinets but I'm finding it difficult to create dimensions for the long curved shapes in them. Its hard to create dimensions for the curves in a way that someone else can look at it and understand how to exactly reproduce the same curvature...

too cool!! super offroad!! awesome!
-
come on guys its gone quiet, just when its starting to get good. Now who's got the details for a DK or Popeye machine, maybe a nice pacman/galaga cabaret machine.
any one thought of using these designs for side templates, makes life oh soooo much asier when it comes to actually cutting the bloomin things.
-
Well it is a little quiet. Honestly it's been difficult for me to get people to send me dimensions of things. And there is only so much I can find on the internet. I'm still slowly working on a pacman/galaxian cabinet plan and I also found some 'semi-accurate' dragon's lair II plans... but they are slightly incomplete. And I haven't been able to find tempest plans that are accurate and complete.
I 'have' been contacted by several people about using my plans as templates, mainly ms. pac-man/galaga simply because there is no easy way to cut/draw the long sweeping curves in the plans. My plans give extremely accurate approximations of the true curves using radius', but thats difficult to draw and cut on a piece of wood without a template. Anyways, all my drawings are to scale... pretty much all the plans are 1" = 1' (or 1:12) so if you simply scale the drawings up by a factor of 12 you will have their full size 1:1 cabinet template.
Anyone....ff you have cabinet plans PLEASE email them to me or Personal Message me. I would love to get up as many plans as possible so that everyone can benefit.
-
I just want to say that I think what you are doing is very cool! My Tron project would be in the building phase by now, but I'm having trouble getting the monitor bezel shipped to the UK, due to its size -
Sooooo in the mean time, can I request that someone (menace if you get the chance) measures the radius of the curves on a Tron machine. May as well get it as accurate as I possibly can.
I'd also be interested in which (exact replica) two player cabinet would make the best MAME machine? I'm toying with X-Men Children of the Atom, but would prefer something even more retro... (Has to be cool looking though - to get past 'she who must be obeyed' :) )
-
Alright--next time i'm at my brothers (might be a couple of weeks depending on the real-life stuff) I will get your corner radii (as close as i can) and the inside layout of the tempest for jakobud. I will also get the neo-geo cab done as these have a very roomy two player control panle and nice shape for a mame machine--it was my first choice but the cab i have now was free so you can't beat that.
Jakobud:
And I haven't been able to find tempest plans that are accurate and complete.
I'm confused, these plans may be incomplete but they are not inaccurate--let me know what you think is incorrect and I will double check the dimension.
-

Sorry I mean't to say incomplete or inaccurate. Your dimensions seem accurate but just missing quite a few parts regarding the maquee area, bezel angle, control panel angle, and kickpanel area.
-
Here's Asteroids Deluxe. If you are going for extreme accuracy, then I would suggest verifying these measurements... expecially the 33 1/2" measurement.
Darryl
-
Thanks for the asteroids deluxe dimensions.... however they are very incomplete.... there is so much that they picture does not explain or show... :( There are several dimensions on there that are missing that would be needed to even draw the thing properly. Like the height from the floor straight up the front to where it starts to flare outwords for example. How could someone create that drawing and forget a simple dimension like that??
-
what i find easiest is to start at the back corner and measure everything in terms of up and over from this one fixed reference point (or x/y for you math types) like the front would be 0 up and 25 over or something like that. With these numbers it draws itself. All the corners are taken at the center where the edges would have met had they not been rounded off--this is inprecise but considering that we're only building cabinets (and not say rocket ships), I'm sure it's okay--just my .02 ;D
-
I realize the Asteroids Deluxe dimensions are incomplete. I took the measurements at an auction and later on noticed the glaring omissions. Sorry. Still I believe there is some value to the incomplete measurements.
To make the drawing you see there, I superimposed a side view of an Asteroids Deluxe cabinet on a grid. Each grid square equals one inch. I then stretched the grid until the measurements lined up with known values suce as the height and width of the side.
Known problems:
1. The 33 1/2 measurement did not work out so I made the assumption that I had written it down in the wrong place. I had originally written that measurement from the floor to the under side of the cpanel.
2. There was an angled piece of glass that prevented me from taking measurements behind it. I drew it using a dotted line and approximated the lines behind the glass.
Anyways, that is all I have for now. I am working on some more measurements of other cabs including Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Ms Pac, Galaga. Those are all at a friends house and we just need to work out a time when we can get together.
Darryl

Okay thanks dph. I didnt realize that the Asteroids cabinet picture you posted was actually to scale. That makes things a little easier.
Btw, I don't need Ms Pacman/Galaga, as I already have posted dimensionf for that cabinet on my website.
-
ohhh Donkey Kong Pleassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssse
when your ready of course.
-
Yeah I have contacted several different people about getting me either Popeye, DK, DK Jr or Mario Bros dimensions (as I believe they are all the same cabinet) but every single person I have asked this of has flaked... Hopefully someone will come through someday.
-
Mortal Kombat dimensions. If these drawings aren't complete enough let me know. I have this cab now and can measure or take photos of anything that isn't clear.

thanks eightbit.... but i guess you didn't check the rest of the thread or my website cause i already have mortal kombat dimensions posted. Thanks for the effeort though! Those look like very good and complete dimensions. Thanks again!
-
Someone nearby has a gutted DLII cab I'd be willing to measure..
Do you have the specs on the Atari system II Sprint/paperboy cabs? If not I can grab those too.

That would be great to have the dimensions of both those cabs.
-
Yes I second that. I actually have a DLII cabinet almost completely drawn up but there were a lot of missing dimensions from my source.... so I had to let it sit until I could find another one to measure and finish up the drawings.
If you could measure both of those cabinets that would be very good. Just email me or PM me as soon as you can about it.
-
Great thread going here...
Do you think that we will ever see the dimensions of a Cliff Hanger Cab? Thanks
-
Perhaps.... that is if someone has access to one and was willing to send me dimensions for it. I would totally draw it up. This project relies a lot of people willing to take the time to take a few measurements and send them to me... but its harder to convince people to do that than you would think :) I've sent messages to lots of people on this board who own original cabinets and they almost all have the same response "sure i'll measure it for you when i get around to it".... which appears to be never :) Only a few people (you know who you are...thank you) have hooked me up :) So to sum up, if anyone has a Cliff Hanger cabinet or has access to one I would draw it up immediately if they could send me the info.
-
Here are the only measurements that I have collected over the years for a Cliff Hanger Cab.
Marquee 22-7/8 x 6-3/4 in
CONTROL PANEL 22-7/8 x 7-3/4 in
Cabinet height 179 cm
Width of the side 81 cm
I'm not sure any of this will help, but it's a start!!!!
-
Yeah thats a start..... but there is a lot more to it than that...
-
Do you have this one yet? Dragons Lair 2 dimensions.
http://www.brightsight.com/Arcade/DL2/Cabinet/default.asp
-
Just curious--would anyone be interested in providing webspace to store original arcade cabinet dimensions? i.e. you could build your own centipede, q-bert, pac-man etc. cab ala carsten's centipede--would anyone be interested in having those plans? (not by me exclusively as I only own 2 cabs)
I just thought that was a neat idea but difficult for people who don't have access to original cabs.
I could provide (upon serious request only):
q-bert
berzerk
tron
centipede
burgertime (peter pepper version)
turbo
pole position II
battlezone
fast freddie
tempest
neo-geo
asteroids (maybe)
Yea, menace, I am seriously interested in dimensions for the burgertime cab. I am looking into making a (slightly modified) mame cabinet with the burgertime shape and artwork. If you could provide the measurements, that would be much appreciated!!
Has anybody else shown interest in the Burgertime cab dimensions??
Thanks.
Jonathan

Yeah I have DL2 plans about 90% done but there seems to be a couple missing dimensions from those plans.

nobody has asked about burgertime ( and i was hoping no one would-- i have no ide a how to measure peter's hat :-[ ???) But i will give it a try--I'm going to my brother's this friday so i will get more tempest measurements and take a stab at burgertime for ya.
-
that would be cool jakobud. I've been to your site - it is great. It would be nice if there was one central place to go for cab plans...
-

I like to be as difficult as possible... I don't know where you are located, but if you can get a good tracing and (snail) mail it to me, I can put it into autocad accurately for the plans. As long as there is some reference to where the tracing begins (like the paper was held horizontally xx inches from the bottom of the cab and then traced - this way it can be done correctly)
I guess this request goes out to anyone who had a burgertime cab. I'd prefer if Jacobud would do the bulk of the drawing - but I could take care of the hat part - if I can get the tracing supplied. Just drop me a message if there are any takers.
Thanks.

If you have a digital camera and could get a straight on shot of it with a ruler or something to show the scale in the picture you should be able to accurately reproduce it.
-
To get Burgurtime's rouded top, you could draw out a grid of 1"x1" squares on plexi. Then photograph it over the cab.
Darryl
-
This is what he needs to do to get the tracing correct. Just take some sheets of graphpaper and hold them up behind the curved part. Then take a picture of the side up close so you can see the graph paper. This will allow me to create the curves in Autocad quite accurately with only a photograph. The graph paper would be there just for reference so I can tell the curvature of the panel.
menace, what cabinets do you have access to at your brothers? Try to get all the plans you can get if you are going there in a few days.
-
I have plans for a pacman cocktail table. Anyone interested in me sending it. I found it posted on a cabinet site a while back. I assume it's not copyrighted or anything. The two files are in pdf format.
-
I think i already have the same ones but i just haven't had a chance to draw them up yet. Send them to me and I'll make sure they are the same.
-
The plans have been sent
-
checked the burgertime cab--its just a ms.pacman /galaga cab with a small flourish where his hat is--if you want to accurately reproduce it get a picture of peter--superimpose it on the side of the cab extending it 6-8" above the top of the cab and approx. 3-4" to the front--then trace. It would have taken way too long to accurately trace this just so someone could see what it looks like.--sorry
-
menace were you able to get any other dimensions of the other cabinets you have access to at your brothers? Like the rest of the tempest and/or tron dimensions?
-
Oh yeah, I did get the rest of the tempest--as much as there was anyways--the control panel is 7" deep at a slight incline (couldn't accurately measure) but it's likely 5-10 degrees. I will post a pic to demonstrate. there will be no more tron measurements coming since the enitire inside of the cab (from edge of control panel to top of monitor) is all plastic inserts that are pretty complex. If someone wants to recreate those I would be quite surprised :)
I likely won't be getting anymore cabinet measurements unless they are by request--I feel like all I seem to be doing is keeping your website busy :P So if someone wants one in particular--just ask.
-
Nintendo please, DK Mario etc,etc
been asking for ages.
someone must have access to one.

-
revised tempest:
The monitor area is covered by a dark plexi that extends to approximately 1" below marquee area.
-
Thanks menace. Regarding that unknown angle of the control panel, I can determine that angle if you have the length of the monitor plexi. Did you measure that?

I was just provided with some plans for a Popeye cabinet. I believe its the same cabinet as DK, Mario Bros... i have some clarifications to make with the person who gave me them so I will have them up within a few days hopefully.
-
An Update (finally). Thank you to crsdawg for providing me with great dimensions for a Robotron 2084 cocktail cabinet. It's similar to a Defender/Stargate cocktail, but not quite the same. Got the plans up and ready to download. Check it out:

-
YEAH!!!
correct, Popeye will be the same.
you da man.
time to order up some more mdf!!

I saw this topic posted on here several weeks ago, and I just ran across this web site a few moments ago and thought of you guys. You can get accurate 3D models of MANY cabinets at this web site.
http://3darcade.mameworld.net (http://3darcade.mameworld.net)
Just thought this might help those of you who are trying to get cabinet dimensions.
Kyle
-
Thanks kldavis, but I've already talked to peter about this models. They are all based off of pictures and are probably not entirely accurate. When I offer plans I want to make sure they are accurate down to about 1/8" if possible. My plans are not perfect by any means but they are extremely accurate.
-
Jako, What are using to draw those plans up?

Autocad

Hi all,
I'm quite new to the arcade scene, but am looking at building my first cab, an 80's cocktail style!
Could anybody help provide plans for a cab similar to this one? I'm guessing it's more of a generic cab than one for a specific game.
Anyhoo, I found it on this chaps' website
http://www.runriot.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/arcade/
I would really appreciate any help people could give to this one - I've already got the chrome T-moulding on order ;D
I have also started to model it out using Pro/ENGINEER and would be quite willing to provide the final models and drawings once I'm happy with the dimensions - sadly it's just a bunch of guesswork at the moment :(
Thanks in advance.
-
I'm not sure what game that 'generic' cocktail comes from... I can't remember who it was who created that 3d render, but I believe that design is their own original creation. The closest I can guess as to what it's from is the old space invaders style, but its still way different from that.
-
Wow! Didn't even realise it was a render!!!!
Should've guessed nobody keeps their floor that clean :D
Thanks for the reply, I guess I'll have to stick with my estimated dimensions and make it up myself - it's an excellent design and I hope the creator of the render is happy with me to create my own cab under their inspiration.
I'll post anything that I manage to do. I was particularly interested in this design as it would allow two players to play side-by-side which could be achieved by lengthening the control box a little. The reason I want a two-player cocktail is that the missus only gave me permission to make one because she thought she was getting a coffee table out of it!!! :-[ DOH!
-
Monkey,
Here's the original thread that render is from:
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=11695
Get ahold of the author and persuade him to pass his plans your way and I can draw them up for you if you if you want.
-
First of all I'd like to thank Jakobud for doing this. I'm planning to start on a cab project after the holidays, and I'm sure that I'm not the only one who finds this info to be extremely helpful.
I'd like to request Joust, unless it uses the same cab as one of the ones you've already done.

On Sunday (if all goes according to plan), I'm going to an arcade that has about 20 or 30 classics.... I'm gonna be there for hours measuring I think :)
-
Okay if you can point me to some of the plans out there for a MS Pacman cocktail then I would be happy to draw them up.
Kyle Lindstrom is working on those as we speak. Those, and a DK upright will be ready shortly.
-
I went to a sweet oldschool arcade today in Big Bear, California called Super Bear Arcade. Anyways, long story short they have a ton of classics and I spent about 3 hours getting tonz of dimensions. I'll start on them soon. You guys should like :)
-
I did the same thing one afternoon snapping pics and measuring at my local arcade, got some strange looks but had fun anyways. Thanks for what you're doing, it's a nice contribution. ;D

Here's a list of cabinets that I got dimensions for on Sunday but have yet to have time to draft them up. I will not really have time to get them drafted until after Jan 4 since I will be outta town. But soon after that, I should have them rolling in.
note: all of these are full upright cabinets unless specified otherwise.

I've been trying to find dimentions for a Neo-Geo MVS cabinet and a dual-monitor Playchoice 10 cabinet...
if any of you could hook me(and in that us) up, it would mean SO very much. There doesn't seem to be _ANY_ plans anywhere on the net that I've been able to find.

Hmmm... there was a MVS (4 game) Neo Geo cabinet at that arcade on Sunday and I didnt measure it. I only had time to measure about half the cabinets I wanted to there. I will get that one next time...

Can someone help me, I cannot seem to pull up these links at all.
-
bandwidth exceeded ?
never seen a whole website vanish because of that!
downloads yes, but the root domain??
-
Sure, if there was no more bandwidth to host pages or files.
But Kyle just posted that something was wrong. Here's new links:
http://arcadecontrols.org/Files/Kyle_Ms_Pac_instructions.zip (http://arcadecontrols.org/Files/Kyle_Ms_Pac_instructions.zip)
http://arcadecontrols.org/Files/Kyle_Ms_Pac_Part_Details.zip (http://arcadecontrols.org/Files/Kyle_Ms_Pac_Part_Details.zip)
And I just realized that the links are to this very site. Thanks, Kyle!
-
eek!
the dimensions have changed from his orignal plans I downloaded months ago!!
what ones are correct?
-
They're two different sets of plans. The original set was a Pac-Man/Galaxian cocktail, and this new one is a Ms Pac/Galaga cocktail. Like the uprights, the two look similar, but are different.
-
here's rough draft of my cab jpg. I haven't included the front view cause no one but me would ever want to build this monstrosity ;D
What part of the cab do you think is too big? I didn't compare yours to other cabs, but is it the height, width, or depth of the cab that bothers you? Looks good on paper. Thanks for the info.
-
FYI, my website is down at the moment I'll get it back up in a day or two.
-
My gosh. I just read through this entire thread and went to Jakobud's site. Thank you SOOO much for putting up the plans. I'll be usin your copy of the Centipede plans to make my own cabinet.
-
No problem. I'm getting ready to transfer my site to a new host so it might be down for a couple days. But i'll have it back up soon.
-
Hmm..
Im probably too late now but ive got webspace that everyone can use too...

Feel free to grab the plans off of my site www.jelloslug.mamehost.com (http://www.jelloslug.mamehost.com)

I'd love to help. You should make a classic cab database and a modified cab database.
I can help with drawings. I can convert mine to autocad from CADKEY.
Send me some scanned sketches to me (asteroids@tnets.net) and I can submit!
-
I've been trying to find dimentions for a Neo-Geo MVS cabinet...
Here's (http://www.hardmvs.com/) a good resource for Neo-Geo cabs. There's no plans, but plenty of pics and manuals. You'll have to be more specific on which type of MVS cab you want. Seems they made a ton of them. I had plans on using the 4/6 slot MVS where the coin door sticks out further than the base of the cab as the root of my design.
-
What I am looking for in cabinets is the 4-slot MVS cab (pretty much exactally what is shown in the graphic on the front page of hardmvs.com...
I'd be happy with pretty much any of them at this point (except the candy cabinets, which I don't care much for).

Im looking for anything on the new dual mini cabarets.
There very cute and id like to take a crack at a cab so what the hell right guys? :)
Looking for:
Triple Kong
Centipede/ Donkey Kong
Ms. Pacman/ Galaga
Mr. DO/ Frogger
TIA for whoever might have some info our better yet some plans.
Take Care everybody!
-
Sainrub I don't know where to find those types of cabinets. They are hard to come by. If anyone around here has them though I'd be more than happy to provide plans for them.

Could someone please provide Plans for a Donkey Kong Cabinet.
thx in advance.

I have some DK plans on paper I will get them drawn up in a few days.

Sweet. I have found plans on the internet for a DL cab, but they were not complete or totally accurate. So I have most of the plans drawn up already but I will get in contact with you soon about the extra dimensions I need from it. Thanks! Is it in good shape? How much did you get it for?
-
The cab that I got was originally a Dragons Lair cab... see klov
http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=D&game_id=7647 (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=D&game_id=7647)
Its in pretty good shape, it had been converted to a Ghosts'n'Goblins... it didn't work at the auction, but after I got it home, checked a few things out, and it fired right up and works great ... some loose connections.... anyway not bad for $10 ;D

One of the jamma board I bought is a Teenage Mutatant.... a
I was wondering if your offer still stands for the cab dimensions.
BTW- I am also looking for an original control panel with or with out the conrols.
Thanks in advance

I'm a little confused on what you are asking for. Are you asking me if I still have plans for a TMNT 4 player cabinet? Because I do I just haven't finished drawing them up yet. Sorry I've been super swamped the last few weeks with real-world (tm) stuff.

UPDATE TIME:
Okay I've uploaded some new plans tonight. Here is the list:
Bucky O'Hare
G.I. Joe
The Simpsons
Sunset Riders
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
TMNT: Turtles in Time
fortunately all these games are Konami games from the late 80's and early 90's and they were all known for having this one type of four player cabinet that they all used. So it was easy to make one set of plans for all of them. There were probably a few other games around that time that used the same cabinet (perhaps TMNT Manhattan Project, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, etc) but these six are the only ones that I can confirm that they used this cabinet type. Enjoy!
Goto www.jakobud.com for the plans!

If you can find someone willing to set me up with the dimensions i will draw them up right away.

I am going to pick up a Gyruss cabinet on Saturday. I'll be sure to measure it up sometime shortly after that in order to fulfill the request. It is a unique cabinet, that's for sure.
My MAME cabinet is a modified Wrestlefest dedicated
( http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=W&game_id=10388 ) and I am certain it is no different from the TMNT / Simpsons style cab. I can measure it out to be sure if asked.

Does anybody know what this cab might have originally been?
The profile is a little different than other cabs I've seen. The marquee is set back quite a bit.
The dates on the coin mechs and monitor are both 1992.
The inside dimensions of the cab are exactly 24 inches.
The control panel is just under 37" wide.
I can get measurements if anyone will be interested.

Yep. I won it at an auction in Pennsauken, NJ last Saturday for $220 plus auction fees and tax, of course.

That looks like my cab. Or damn close to it. However, I've found another pic of that same game in a completely different cabinet...
http://www.system16.com/sega/cabinets/goldenaxe2.jpg
As for the marquee area, it has the full size glass, the bottom 3 or so inches are just covered up by the "speaker grille" that goes from the top of the monitor glass, up the incline, and wraps over the edge of the marquee.
Then again... I found another Sega game, this time from 1991 using that same cab...

Well that wasn't really what I was aiming to do when I started this thing. The only exception I have made is I drew up LuSid's cabinet plans b/c his were so commonly used for so long. Although nowadays I'm getting a handful of people sending me plans for custom made or altered cabinets and asking me if I want to draw them up. The thing is, my plans for these cabinets are not full plans that tell you step by step what you have to do to put together a cabinet like an original. If they were full complete plans I don't think I could fit them on a single piece of paper :) The plans are here so that people can have a good idea of what the shape and size was of originals so they could use those dimensions to their hearts on content. However if enough people are wanting me to start adding custom cabinets I will do so :)
-
The minicade plans. There is 1/2" bracing inside between the bottom panel and the sides around the entire perimeter. The rest of the panels were just secured with screws through the side, countersunk, and filled with wood filler. My monitor support consists of 2 - 1"x2" stands with a 1/2" piece of ply over top as well as 2 -- 1"x2" running behind the tube at top and bottom (this will be different for each monitor depending on how they are put together) The PC went under the monitor shelf so a slot 1 CPU will not work. The back panel was hinged alowwing access to the insides and a hole drilled for the power supply. The top section that is angled is where a vent hole was placed as well as the power switch.

I'm looking for cabinet dimensions for the 6 player X-Men cabinet. I've seen the 4 player version, and that wasn't the one I was looking for, GOTTA be the 6 player one.

CP width and length.

I just want the spacing between the joystick centers to help in the design of my control panel...
O <---P1---> O <---X---> O <---P2---> O
P1 = P2 = ?
X = ?
I assume that Total Carnage is probably the same spacing as Smash TV.
I think that I read somewhere that the sticks on Robotron (though 1 player only) are a little farther apart.

O <---P1---> O <---X---> O <---P2---> O
P1 = P2 = ?
X = ?
I assume that Total Carnage is probably the same spacing as Smash TV.
I think that I read somewhere that the sticks on Robotron (though 1 player only) are a little farther apart.
I'll have this for you tonight...
-
I'd like to get accurate measurements for the control panel on a 25" Smash TV machine. I guess a Total Carnage control panel might work as well.

I know the width of the control panel is 28.75" wide and based upon this image here: (http://chux0r.org/smashtv/cp3.jpg)
this is a very close approximation of the distances:
O <---P1---> O <---X---> O <---P2---> O
P1 = P2 = 6.5"
X = 5.0"
These are not exact but they are close.

My plans on my website for TMNT, TMNT2, Simpsons etc, are all going to be very very similar to that cabinet (except the large marquee area).

Have you seen plans for these out there? I think the guy how did them did an AMAZING job, they look beautiful...
They aren't exactally Poker machine conversions from what I can tell, and its different than the mini-Pac....

Thanks. I took your picture into Paint Shop Pro, then perspective corrected and rotated it so I had an image that was roughtly perpindicular to the control panel. Then I resized the width of the image to 28.75 inches and copied sections of the image between the joysticks to get an approximate distance.
This is what I come up with (center to center measurements)...
P1 = P2 = 7"
X = 5.5"

I'm having some trouble getting the plans into CorelDRAW or Illustrator. Apparently both programs only support the other formats of Autocad and not the DWF format. The only converters I could find need Autocad to work. Since the PDF and JPG both are bitmaps they don't convert to either vector program very well either.
I found that I could copy the drawing from the Autodesk Viewer, but that only copies the current view. Trouble is that when the current view is the entire image then the accuracy of the drawing is reduced. And if you zoom in you get the accuray, but then the image is of course cut off.
Am I missing something obvious here?

Those are usually referred to as BarTop or TableTop Arcade Cabinets. Those seem to be made from scratch (custom made) from the seller. He/She most likely applied all graphics/overlays manually. I do not believe those are original cabinets.
Take a look further up at Menace's Minicade Plans. You can use his plans as a basis, and customize the control panel to your liking.
You can take a look at Menace's Minicade here. (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=10;action=display;threadid=15617)
Here is a free set of MiniCab Plans. (http://raq.uninterruptible.com/users/jdfrey/mame/dl.html)
IMHO, a bartop cabinet is better off being used for a less cluttered CP setup (ie. 1- 4 way joystick, 2-3 buttons - strictly for playing classic games) than an overcrowded 2-Player Streetfighter (fighter) setup, where both players will be cramped together on the narrow CP with very little elbow room. But if you don't mind that, well go for it! ;)
If your creative enough, you can create swappable panels for it like THIS. (http://www.gamecabinetsinc.com/barcade.htm)
-
Yeah... I did some similar things except it involved mirroring the leftside vertically (since the leftside is closer to the camera) and then scaling the image accurately in Autocad and then making the measurements. I do stuff like this alot. I think my measurements are more accurate but it's up to you.

I'm not sure why you are trying to take it into Illustrator. You can easily print out the PDF or JPG's to use when constructing or designing...

If I was buliding an exact duplicate of the plans perhaps I could yes. Allthough both are bitmap formats and they don't print realy well. Thing is, the files (or at least the Galaga one I'm working with) basicaly only contain the exterior dimensions. I need to add a monitor shelf, a back door, a drawer, replacable control panels etc etc ... i.e. take the exterior design and then work with it. I'm working with the copy I took from the Autodesk Viewer and I guess it's usable enough anyway.
ps I hope I don't come over as being disrespective, I'm really appreciative of your work. It's just that I'm trying to use the files as a base for desiging a full cab and using the files directly would help me not to have to redraw them. I guess there would be others too not just using the files "as is".
-
No disrespect taken don't worry about it. I'm just trying to figure out how I can help you. I understand what your saying about wanting to just 'edit' the plans as they are. You are also saying that they don't print very well? Even the PDF file??

OK, thanks.
The thing with the PDF file is that it contains a bitmap image. Try zooming in and you'll see the pixels. So it's basically the same image as the JPG. It might also be my printer, but the combination of a bitmap image and the gray coloring makes the lettering sometimes hard to read. Bits of the letters are not printed. The print I got from the Autodesk viewer looks a lot better.

Finally an update. These plans are a long time coming. They were difficult to aquire and even more difficult to draft. Anyways I know a lot of people want these:
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong 3
Donkey Kong Jr.
Mario Bros. (non-widebody)
Nintendo .VS
Pong (model 320)
Popeye
www.jakobud.com for the plans
-
just a note to say thank's for your great contribution.
thank's for the effort, time involved in this project
thank's for sharing with everybody
this is a great ressources for all of us.
thank's

thx alot jakobud.
-
Brought to my attention that there were a couple missing dimensions on those Nintendo (DK, DK3, DKJr, etc) plans. I will get updated versions up tonight. Note: None of the current dimensions will be changed. Only a few extra's will be added.
UPDATED: Done! Changed plans:
DK
DK3
DKJr.

Hi guys. I am looking for absolutely authentic dimensions and layout
information for the Neo-Geo arcade control panel. I'm not an expert,
so if there were different SNK authorized layouts throughout the years
I would like to find out about that. I am only interested in the
layouts for machines that SNK produced, I don't want dimensions from
hacked up Neo-Geo conversions. In particular I would like to know the
EXACT measurements for spacing and button and joystick placement.
Width of the whole panel, slant angle of the panel, and if there was a
curviture where the slanted part meets the vertical front face of the
machine, what the radius of curviture might be. I need this info
because I am attempting to produce authentic arcade Neo-Geo
controllers for me and my buds. I would also appreciate seeing photos
of the panels if anyone has them. I appreciate any help that can be
offered, thanks!

Neogeofan, there was a similar thread about this only last week you should be able to easily find. It didn't have dimensions listed but it talked about the variatious button configurations and stuff.

First off, well done Jakobud! The plans rock! But I wonder if this guy on Ebay has ripped them off:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3281570595&category=13716
I know PartickL has been asking about this too, but has anyone found an easy way to open the DWF files in Illustrator or Corel Draw?
I'd like to get the file as an editable vector image so I can do a full size plot of the necessary cabinet parts, or if I'm feeling particularly lazy I could CNC some.
I've tried using AutoCAD2000 and FlexiSign, but neither supports DWF.
Any ideas?

I am currently redoing all my cabinet plans at the moment. I'm splitting them up into multiple pages per cabinet to show them larger and in more detail. I am also figuring out some different file formats that people can download and use for the very reason you asked about. Expect an update within a couple weeks with a whole new format.
Regarding people ripping off my plans... i dunno what I can do about it. :-[ Anyone can open up my plans and sit down and copy the dimensions onto a piece of paper in front of them, and presto... a copy of my plans and all they have to say is that they went and measured a real cabinet. I'll throw on a disclaimer on there someday soon, but still its not like its gonna help much.
The fact is, that I am here doing this so I can give freely to this community. If 50 people get something positive from that and there are a couple of people on the side who are ripping off my stuff... no big deal. I'm happy that those 50 people can use the plans. I'd never think about charging for them. I won't let a few rotten apples ruin everything.
-
Hey Jakobud
two things....I didn't want to pester you about it.....did you have any luck with the 6 player X-Men cab dimensions?
Second, isn't there some way you can watermark them or embed your website's address into them? I'm sure nobody here would mind having that on there, as you have provided us all with a free service for which we owe you a great deal.
I, for one, can figure out how to plot the lines if your web address was listed across the image, and it wouldn't bother me in the least to know that someone's gonna have a harder time stealing your time and effort and claiming it as their own.
-
ooooooooh! I'd love to see some Street Fighter II dimensions! Or any other SF2 cab (CE, Turbo, SSF2, SSF2T).
And not some conversion cab dimensions either! The real deal oneS!
thanks!

No guys I'm sorry I haven't had much luck finding a 6 player XMen cabinet. They are around I think but I just can't seem to find one.
And regarding the SF2 cabinets... wow there were so many conversions of those games I have no idea what the true original cabinets looked like... but I will keep my eyes open.
And regarding the watermarks and stuff, yeah I'm thinking about stuff like that and taking it all into consideration on my redesign of it all.
-
I just so happen to have a 6 player xmen machine!! I would be more than happy to measure it up (when i can get to the darn thing) and send the dimensions over to Jakobud for his expert drafting.
So whats the plan for a 6 player xmen cabinet build? someone got a couple of spare monitors?? I know its emulated in mame, but not sure you can do the trick with 2 monitors as the original board does...
Gotta say it is a beast of a cabinet!!
(pic does not show the 30" of control surface that goes on the front of the cabinet)
-
Cool mac, I will be in touch with you about this. Its on the way drewkaree.
-
MUCHAS Gracias!
No, actually, the plan is to use that cab and have two separate setups i.e. one computer running whatever you wish, with the other running whatever THEY wish with two separate monitors (I'm the local "give your old puter to this guy" guy, so hardware isn't an issue).
Basically, two two-person cabs, and that's the ONLY cab I saw that I like the design on. I take that back, there WAS a football game (mebbe John Elway? Don't remember) I saw where each player had their own setup, but that looked even bigger than the X-men cab!

I am in the process of restoring three Tempest uprights so if someone is interested in the dementions of it let me know if not Iwon't go threw the trouble. If so the measurements will be exact to the T.
-

Okay Adam I'll be in touch with you on this. There were some Tempest measurements provided a while back but they were incomplete and I never got anyone to finish them.
-
This is how I will give you the measurements if you want them I will make you some stincles and you pay for the shipping thats all that I ask. I'm funny about posting measurements on the web so anybody can use it to make money. I just made two control panels this week which you could not tell the differance between that and the original. If you want that I will give you that also.
-
WTF are "stincles"? :o ???
What about e-mailing them to him? I don't need these, but it doesn't seem as if Jakobud, of all people, should pay to have these shipped to him. He's done all this stuff for FREE, fer cryin' out loud!
He's also had the issue of someone possibily making money off of his hard work, so I bet he understands, but e-mailing them isn't the same as posting on the web. Do it that way.
-

-
I'm not trying to be a jerk I'll send the measurements
to him if he wants them that way I didn't know he was 90% finished with it. I just figured that a stincle would be easy for him to get it exact and he will always have it to make as many as he wanted. I know projects take money already and I'm not making money off of it either
I think that $8to $15 in shipping is not bad for a entire stincle for a whole Tempest cabinet including the control panel and marquee. There is alot of work that goes into making a stincle for a cabinet and all I was asking was the cost to ship it to him. But if he wants some mesurements sent too his email OK.
-
WTF are "stincles"?
A stincle is a pre cut patern of what ever you are making to ensure that it is exact every time and it saves alot of time and aggrivation espesually if you are not a very good at carpentry. basicly you don't have to think just trace and cut and put together. and you can make a 1,000 Tempest cab's if you want.
Why do you have to be so rude when I'm trying to help make things easy for someone?
-
Jacobud, I recieved the Tempest cabinet layout and I'm going to pull some measurements this Sunday and you should get them later that day. do you want the measurements for the control panel and marquee also
or do you have them?
-
I think the word you are looking for is 'stencil'. Or template.
-
Sorry I don't take time for spelling.
-
Why do you have to be so rude when I'm trying to help make things easy for someone?
I wasn't being rude. I have paged through this SIX page thread and viewed other threads where Jakobud offered his help for free. I also read the thread where someone may have stolen his work to make a profit from his free service for the members on this board. Btw, Jakobud doesn't manufacture any cabs people ask him for, he is merely offering to get (and send) dimensions to the cabinets people are asking him for.
I have NEVER seen a post where someone expected payment for offering Jakobud cab dimensions. It seems to be a gentleman's agreement of "I'll give you the dimensions for free, you offer them to others for the same price". The idea of HIM paying anything seems outrageous, given the idea I mentioned above.
Regarding "stincles", I looked the word up (that's what I do when I don't understand something), and it's not even a word. Therefore, "WTF is a stincle". It's the kind of thing you say when assembling a million piece project and the directions tell you "insert bolt A into nut 002584" and they never includ nut 002584 i.e. "WTF, where is nut 002584"
In the future, I promise to choose my words more carefully if you promise to spell-check ;D equally as carefully.
I still stand by my original position. No matter HOW cheap it is to send the stencils, the end result is that Jakobud would then have to recoup that money spent by selling those stencils, and I can hardly believe that there's a booming market for stencils. I'd be willing to bet he'd eat a good chunk of the money spent to get those stencils. What he's offering are exact dimensions for a cabinet. He's not offering stencils so someone can make hundreds of thousands of Defender cabinets.
It is my hope that you realize I wish no offense to you. I merely am posting an opinion regarding an offer requiring payment to a respected member of this board who offers that service for free to us, and genuine puzzlement at something not even Webster's can define.
-
Does anyone have any access to a sit down racer, single or double that they could sketch out some rough plans for. I would be willing to transfer there sketches into AutoCAD and submit them to Jakobud.
BTW Thanks to Jakobud for providing this great resource for us all + big thanks to all the members that have helped him out with dimentions etc..
-
Any one have a "Killer Instinct" cab that'd be willing to share some dimensions?
-
Just an update for everyone, I am currently in the process of redrawing all my plans in more detail and making them more freely and widely available by using more common file formats that are high res. I will let you all know when I've redone them all. I'm a little swamped with real world stuff at the moment.
-
I thought I had posted this. After reading through the thread again I found I haven't.
Track And Field Cocktail pictures and measured drawing in English and Metric is Here (http://planetjay.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=13).
Also thanks to Jakobud for the Robotron Cocktail Drawing. Some ideas from it have been incorporated into my upcoming Cocktail Project.

I am after dimensions for the Australian/UK style Space Invaders cocktail like the one in the link below. I hope someone can help. I am after this exact style, with the two tiered cabinet shape. This is a pic of the back (P2) of the machine obviously.

Shouldn't be too hard for me to track down someone on this board with that style of cocktail.

I'm sorry for being lazy and not reading all six pages, but I read most of them.
I would be more than happy to help anyone undertaking such a project. But I need a quick clarification that has probably been answered somewhere on this thread.
It seems some people are offering pics+measurements. Is that OK? Here's the cabs that I have to be measured. Keep in mind this is a barn find and most are conversions, so if we are talking tape measure and digital camera I can handle that. Or if the following list contains enough cabs that people need dimensions to I'll read up on Autocad and do my best.
Here are the cabs I believe I can measure accurately (most were exposed to the elements for several years and have bad bottoms so this is an incomplete list-plus I can't name all the cabs.
Super Pac Man
I have 3 of these cabs but I think I only have one back, maybe none.
Stern cab
I have two-no backs again. These are conversions so I don't know what they were originally. I have been told they are a common Stern cab used by Frenzy, Turtles, etc.. Here (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8456) is a pic of what one looks like-mine have the "Stern" logo down the side like the one in that link.
Bubbles?
This is a Williams cab that currently houses Yie-Ar Kung Fu. The bottom is rough on one side so measurements might be hard, I don't know yet because I've never tried. :)
Centipede
Again the bottom is rough. Currently has a Wrestling game. But the CP is a lightly converted Centipede CP if those measurements are needed.
Pole Position UR
Empty cab but I believe I have both parts to the back.
Game Plan
Currently houses a Mr Do's Castle. Say's it was made in 1981 in IL.
Gorf
No CP, but otherwise in good shape for measuring.
Zaxxon/Congo Bongo
I have two. These cabs are made of particle board and aren't worth restoring, but between the two I can get measurements. Both are complete, lumberwise. Lots of doors and angles on these cabs.
Universal Cab
This is exactly what I have (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8374). Universal made a lot of conversions and this seems to be their most common cab. Awesome design. Two-piece back, all complete.
I have others that I either cannnot think of or haven't yet ID'ed.
LMK if I can help.

OK, I just read the entire post. So I need to get the best measurements and drawings as possible.
And two more cabs I thought off:
Joust
Moon Cresta (I'm 85% sure it is)
-
Almost done, thought i would post a pic of my latest adventure. DK based on Jakobud's plans.
up next Popeye (cause i got the bezel etc).
nice work on the plans Jakobud ( couple of dimensions missing that we need to include in your plans). will email you shortly.
gotta get you those plans for the 6 player xmen!
btw, anyone got a template for the speaker grill?
or a Nintendo coin door in the uk?
-
WOW mac, I am super stoked that you used my plans to make something that turned out so good! Looks totally genuine! I have some information on the speaker grill pattern btw. I will email you shortly about it.
And I will get those XMen plans soon too.
-
I love the fact that he's got this thing sitting in what looks like the middle of the kitchen....awesome! ;D
-
I guess I missed the news about the site update. Thanks man! Nice to see the Moon Patrol cab was added too. Now I have to decide between Galaga and Moon Patrol :o
-
Would you supply me with the Pole Position Cabinet dimensions? Also, does your cabinet have the artwork on the sides? If so, would you be willing to take some pictures of the sideart for me also? THanks.

I am in talks with lancelet about getting all those dimensions for those cabinets he has access to, including pole position. Actually come to think about it, I already have partial pole position cabinet plans that I measured myself, but I have not attempted to draft them up yet, because of the complicated plastic area around the steering wheel. It will be tricky but I will attempt that soon.

Good Job on the plans Jakobud.
Greatly helps people such as myself who just don't have access to full or gutted classic cabinets...especially living down here in Western Australia!!
If you need any help compiling plans, I'm proficient in DeltaCAD. Very easy program to use! Please feel free to ask this pedantic SOB!.
Can anyone help on dimensions for a Taito generic cab for my 'Jungle Hunt' Build Project (ie Jungle Hunt, Elevator Action, Qix etc.)??

I tell you what, if any plans or measurements for this style Tatio cab appears before this summer is over I'll be a happy little bunny! ;D

A few cabinet measurements needed for Midway Kickman/Satans Hollow MINI Cabaret (or Wizard of Wor?)
I started building a replica cabaret/mini a year ago to house my Kickman. I already have the mini monitor bezel and mini marquee, only needing the control panel (if anyone has one, even bare, as I already have the trackball, email me :) )
However all the farther I got was cutting out the two sides of the cabinet. I had a couple of contacts that promised dimensions when they "undug out" their machines, but a year later, I havn't gotten any farther or more details.
The dimensions I need would take no more than 5-10 minutes for anyone owning a MINI Cabaret version of either a Kick(man) or Satan's Hollow. Possibly a Wizard of Wor could be used as well as it had the same side profile, but used horizontal vs vertical monitor so may be different.
Here's what I mainly need. I know the widths (~18"), but need the rest of the cross-piece measurements.
(Easiest would be to measure X/Y for both points of each from the lower back corner of a side)
1) Top piece (above/behind marquee)
2) Middle top piece (below.behind marquee with speaker grille attached)
3) Spacer board piece (between speaker board and monitor bezel)
4) Monitor bezel glass holder
5) Control panel top/front/lip (if I decide to build out of wood if I can't find an original one)
6) A couple other measurements to double check things regarding the back side.
I can email a drawing indicating the points I need measured to assist.
Thanks in advance. Reply here or via PM or in email ( bfrandse @ hotmail.com) -- please include "cabaret" or "mini" in the email so the spam filter doesn't trash it.
------
By the way, I have finished building a replica of an Atari mini cabaret. It came out looking very nice. I spent a total of about $45 on the wood, and $5 on stain, poly and spray paint and screws (caught some good deals). All I have left to do is cut into the control panel for controls and do the wiring. If anyone wants details on this I would be glad to post. I made the cabinet as large as I could to fit both sides onto a single 49"x97" piece of MDF to save costs, and make it lighter and more easy to move. It's about 4" shallower than the original's I think, per the draft plans the Kyle Lynstrom(sp?) gave me as he's not done with them yet.

I can't make you a little bunny. But I may be able to make you happy. Today I picked up this (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=2;action=display;threadid=21069) cabinet
Let me know if you are interested. I will make them available eventually.
[edit] I am very redundant. [/edit]

Are any of these "plans" going to be completed?
Most people will need more than sides if they want to build a replica cabinet. I'd think things such as coin door cutout, monitor shelf, marquee/speaker shelf, and such should be included at minimum.

I disagree, all I need are the side measurements, the width can be determined by the monitor and CP.
If anyone submits new measurements for sides I'll be happy !
If you think about it, after you have the sides cut out all you need are rectangles and squares, very easy, and as many older cabinets used 19" screens you would have to scale the width (and possibly depth) for a bigger monitor anyway.
That's just my opinion, I say "custom" over "replica"
(and I don't think you should be so demanding of volunteers)
Don't be a llama :)

I have wondered about this as I have been drawing up so many plans for cabinets. It seemed that more people were generally interested in the basic shape and look of the game.
I mean, if you wanted to make a real truely genuine replica cabinet there is a LOT you would have to measure on an original. Like exactly where and how the monitor was mounted, what type of framing was used on the inside and the dimensions for all the internal mounting blocks, PCB mounting location and dimensions, power supply mounting dimensions, how the wires were mounted and run inside the cabinet, etc etc... the list goes on and on if you want to make a cabinet that is exactly like an original... and you are never going to get completely accurate dimensions for all these things unless you have access to the original cabinet blueprints from the original manufacturer....
Anyways, no matter how exact you try to make a 'replica' cabinet, it is still just a replica and not original and if a dimension is off by even a 1/8" that's enough justification to complain about it if you are truely wanting it to be EXACTLY like an original...
In the end, it seems like people want to just customize the cabinet a little bit here and there but they want the general shape of the originals.
-
Here's a strange request ;D
Anyone have a bartop megatouch they can measure up?
-
I've just seen these post tonight, 2 months after first asking if anyone had one of those cabs... lol *doh!*
did anyone ever get any measurements taken? I got some a short while back... but i didnt get any side measurements i dont think. like the width of the control panel and the like
if not dont worry about it, ill probably end up drawing them from scratch to just have that rough shape. But if anyone does have some numbers to throw at me (just dont throw too hardd) then ill love you forever...
well.. maybe a month or so ;D
-
My Taito cab is 22 7/8" wide on the inside. The top portion of the cp is 6 3/4" deep and the front of the cp is 6" high. The marquee is 6" viewable (7.25" total). Bezel is 20.5" deep. These are what I have scribbled down here to do my artork anyway.
I was thinking that Spriggy was going to add all of that info to his dimensioned drawing when it is done just as Jakobud has been doing. If you haven't seen Jak's site, check it out. He is getting a good collection there.
-
Just about down on the Taito Sideart. Just touching up a few places.
Then I'll start on the dimensions. I'm also getting some original cabinet parts/brackets/artwork shipped to me, so I'll measure those as well for the plans.
-
Yeah, I've seen his site, it's excellent... just doesnt have any cab shapes for the cab im going to build unfortunately.
Spriggy, Nannuu... you're both legends. Thanks for this help with the measurements! :D
If I get any more details, this is going to make my life so much easier for when I build my cab during the next 6 months or so (and of course progress will be posted on here)
I was always deciding between the centipede, generic Taito, and pacman cab shapes. (I've always preferred the smaller, more classic simple shapes of the older games. The cab is going to be kept as simple as possible. No 476 button control panels here ;) )
In the end the Taito one just kept on leaping out at me. And now I've decided it will be perfect in the house here... so woohoo
cheers again guys!
-
Just to plant another cabinet dimension seed, after I finish with the 'Taito UR Cabinet' plans, I will be asking the beloved arcade brethren for some dimensions for an 'Asteroids Cocktail'. Very simplistic in design and artwork, as well as a classic.
Makes it all that much easier to document and build as a replica.
Shite...I haven't even finished the Taito plans and I'm already asking for more. Pure Greed!!!
I'm all ears!! ;D
Game On!
-
how's things going spriggy? going well? :)
-
Yeh..things going well.
The left side of the 'Taito' sideart is done. 'Wade' has the AI file and is printing it on a plotter, so as to overlay it onto his cabinet to check it's accuracy.
Go here for all the info.. http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=13;action=display;threadid=19558;start=40
I have started on the plans. I'm at the very basic compilation stage. I'm also waiting for some original parts to arrive (ie brackets, hinges, coin door, unpopulated CP etc) so they can be measured and drawn up in CAD format.
The workshop is now finished (except for a few things). I'm also balancing the wife, kids, house renovation, work and other arcade based projects as well (ie 'Cosmic Guerilla' UR restoration, build a Jamma Supergun/Test Bench ... and so on!!)
Bring it on! (puff.. puff.. collapse!)
:)

spystyle: I wasn't making any demands, only suggestions. I'm sorry I didn't work to make that more clear.
Jakobud: My concern isn't for a true exact replicas, because as you say purists will never be happy. But enough information to build a complete cab in one shot for the non-carpenters out there is worth considering.
Things like original monitor position, speaker location, etc. fall into this category of desired information I would think.
Those that are looking for "similar-but customized" can customize even if provided with the rough 'original' layout information. But those that want a machine that looks (give-or-take) exactly like a Q*Bert (for example) except it's a MAME cab in disguise can't get there from scratch with just the side dimensions. The monitor mounting angle inside a Pac-Man, is completely different than that in a Defender as well.
Providing the monitor shelf, speaker shelf/marquee shelf, etc. will save people some trial & error when building their cabs when they just want to build & go, and not have to find out the hard way that they can't hear their speaker well with it just bolted under the monitor or that their monitor neck just went crunch because it was sticking too close to the rear door.
If all people need is the side template, heck, take any snapshot of any cab side, rotate image to level the base, edge tool, crop & fill to shape, hunt down PDF manual to get height, resize image based on that height, and you're done in two to five minutes. Output to HPGL, and 5 minutes of CNC routing action later you have the side of anything you want. I've done this several times just yanking images off eBay.
Of course I wouldn't expect information like the 2"x2" braces/supports or any of the board-cage type information since most ppl will just toss the PC into the base of the cab, or use PCB feet where-ever they're comfortable with them.
Anyway, again, just my opinion/take on the matter and everyone has opinions.
On a related note, If you want the dimensions for any of the following let me know:
Crystal Castles
Pole Position (I have so many of these that you will definately see some of the plastic molded control panels up on eBay after a while)
Atari Football "cocktail" (rather tall cocktail, I like it)
Star Castle
Defender
Millipede
Pac-Man
Space Zap
Return of the Jedi
Capcom Street Fighter II: TNC
Simpsons (4P)
Chase HQ
Phoenix
Pleaids
Nintendo (DK, Mario, etc.)
Turbo (upright)
Mechanized Attack (big dual mounted gun cab)
Dig Dug
Gunsmoke
Thanks again for all your effort Jakobud.

I didn't check out all cab plans, but the ones I saw didn't just give the side view. The plans I saw where detailed enough to build a cab from scratch. IIRC there typically are 3 files in a plan (Side view, Side view with cross boards and the front view). The plans also include CP dimensions, marquee dimensions, monitor position etc.

AlexSledge,
I noticed your offer of supplying some cabinet dimensions.
Noteably.....your Atari Football "cocktail".
I have been tracking down someone for dimensions for a 'Track 'n' Field' Cocktail for about 18months. I had two people offer, however I haven't heard from them in a year (must be my bad breath :) ). As far as I'm aware, the Atari Football and T'n'F cocktails have the same dimensions.
Are you able to supply me with the dimensions for this cocktail and it's extension base (if you have it)? I can then compile them in CAD format as soon as I've finished the Taito ones.
Also, as a general note. If people are wondering why I'm so interested in cab dimensions..... I live in Australia... 'The Land of NO Classic Cabs'. (Rare!!)
Cheers

Spriggy I have a contact with a Track n Field cocktail I think I can get some good dims for you... give me a little time to get them.

Jakobud,
Lovely!! Thanks for the T'n'F offer. Beautiful and simplistic looking cocktails if I do say so myself.
I'll email the 'Taito' plans when I'm finished for you to play with and post.
Cheers

Yes the T n F cocktail is really a nice one. Almost a forgotten design among homebrew cocktails...
Yes please email me the plans whenever you get them done and I'll post them!

I sure can. I don't have the extension base. This is what I have:

Note that that one is not mine.

I need to check them out again, when I looked last (admittedly a while ago) it didn't look like there was enough there to build a complete "box" of a cab on the one or two I checked out.

*Just a quick update*
Have started the Taito Cabinet Plans. Long ways off finishing, but started non-the-less. They'll stay at their current stage until I receive my original CP and other parts that are currently being shipped.
Here's a quick dodgy jpeg... ::)
-
dodgy jpg's are more than welcome when they have a few measurements on them ;D
this is, and will... help me loads.. thanks for this
-
Can't you include also plans for original control layouts?!
And what about Mortal Kombat. Was it the same cabinet used for every Midway fighters? (MK2, MK3/UMK3, MK4, KI and KI2)
-
Spriggy and others,
I'm afraid the Atari Football and Track and Field cocktails are very similar, but not exactly the same. I have a T&F cocktail I could measure if no one else gets to it first, but it would be a couple of weeks. I am behind by a week or two, and my brother is out of town this week so I can't get the Taito sideart from him until this weekend at the soonest.

No, they are different. Similar, but different, especially around the kickplate/coindoor panel.

Excuse my ignorance. I'll get my facts straight next time I shoot my mouth off! :-X :)
Oh well. Looks like we'll have plans for a T'N'F and an Atari Football cocktail!!
When dimensions become available to me.. I'll start them up.
-
Ignorant of the Atari Football sub thread here I posted limited dimensions for mine on Paige's Giant Coctail thread (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=23346;start=msg190644#msg190644).
I hope these'll help somebody make plans. I'll do specific measurements and pics if needed.

I just PM'ed you with some more instruction for them so I can draw them up.
Well get TnF soon too. And I'll get those Dunk Shot cocktail dimensions from paige too!
-
I just scored the general side dimensions and angles for the T'n'F cocktail. Excellent.
I just need to get the dimensions for the control panel (which could be fairly closely worked out from the side dimensions anyway), dimensions for the coin door location, access door and extension base height.
I also need the offset dimensions for the access door and opposite side, the glass and the cp itself (ie the access door, cp and glass are not level with the cabinet edges, but offset! Looks about 1/2".)
Also, how is the underside of the control panels constructed. The Atari football cocktail has a long piece of particle/mdf board which the monitor mounts on, this also extends to cover the underside of the control panel. Is the Track 'n' Field cocktail built the same?? (see attached Atari Football drawing)
I hope you understood all that... I almost don't.. ;D
These dimensions would be very easy to obtain. The plans won't take long to knock up either.
Any help!!
Jakobud, I can compile these and send them to you whilst you compile the Atari Football.
Cheers.
-
The player 1 CP on the Atari Football (the one to the left of the coin door anyway) isn't on the sliding monitor board. Its underside is only big enough to extend to the main body of the cab. The sliding monitor board butts up to it. So you can take the monitor and player 2 CP off together, and still have player 1 CP in place and unaltered.
-
No, they are different. Similar, but different, especially around the kickplate/coindoor panel.
Then I'll need those as well... ;oP
I might check if I can mesure up something as old as MK4 at my local arcade...
-
I have an operation wolf and an outrun cab sitting in my basement. Does anyone want measurements? The op wolf is pretty unique and there are a lot of angles / pieces on it.
-

I'll get ahold of you shortly about these, as I think they would be unique enough to have plans for.
-
I have torn my gauntlet cabinet apart to move (and clean up a ton of stuff).
I promised some that I would do some nice measurements a long time ago... but bought a house, went through closing, then ripped it apart to move.
Anyway, I will try and make it look nice to add here.
-
A lot of people have asked me for plans for my personal cabinet I have, which is (very) loosely based off of LuSid's cabinet. Anyways, I finally put together some decent ones for everyone to download on my website. They are in the "Cabinet Plans" section along with all the other cabinet plans.
They include very detailed dimensions of my entire control panel, which MANY people have emailed me about.
enjoy!
-
Giving this a *bump* as there was some interest by SpyStyle.
-
As you can read in the news, new cabinet plans on my website:
Assault
Atari Football (2 player)
Dynamo 34" Showcase
Gauntlet
Jakobud mameCab (my Mame cabinet)
Neo Geo MVS-4-25 ver.3
Tempest
Track & Field (cocktail)
X-MEN (6 player)
enjoy!

Are you still in need of the 2nd generstion taito cab measurements? I've got one in the garage... It's a Qix cabinet. Same as Jungle Hunt/King, Elevator Action, Alpine Ski, Space Dungeon Kram, Front Line etc. etc.

Yes we are. Can you email me so I have your email address and can contact you about this? That would be awesome man!
-
do you need pole position? i noticed ppII listed on the original post but i don't see it on your site.
-
oohh..... Taito cab measurements :D
Just the cab shape I'm gonna be building. can't wait!
-

Yeah... well lets just say that only about 15% of people who replied to this thread offereing to measure up all their cabinets actually followed through....
-
I'll start measuring tonight and should finish by Sunday. (My leg is broken so I'll have to get some help). These cabs were all bolted together though, so I'll have to get creative and hope Jakobud can decipher my stuff. All kinds of dadoes and crap.
-
Where is the ShowCase cab measurements?
I have a Chase HQ that I could measure...

I started compiling the 'Taito' cabinet plans a little while ago. I'm STILL waiting on my parts to arrive (ie brackets, CP etc) so as they can be measured and compiled in CAD as well. Being down here in Western Australia, really slows down the shipping process from overseas...as one would imagine.
But, if someone else is willing to measure their cabinet before I'm able to complete mine....great. The sooner, the better for others.
Game on!
-
Spriggy, I'll be able to get everything but the cp (don't have it but can see where it was). I'll be looking for those side stencils as soon as I cut some wood... Maybe it would be easier for me to fill in the blanks you have? I could charge the digicam if needed.

CC,
As you would have read on my Taito Sideart thread, the artwork is on hold due to Wade's and mine current projects (both T&F cocktails).
As I aforementioned, I'm waiting on parts for measurement. IE CP, Rear Door Hinges, Marquee Brackets, Plastic Bezel and Bezel Brackets and Coin Door.
If your eager, you could gather these dimensions (and angles) and send them to me to assit. I'm expecting the parts to arrive within the next fortnight!?! if your willing to wait.
As for the Taito Sideart, you could use it in it's current inaccurate state (in Wade's and my eyes anyway) as a template to cut the sides and then use it as a stencil or vinyl overlay without inaccuracy. The main cabinet side outline on the sideart has been quoted as accurate, EXCEPT for the main large curve which is out some what.
I can not tell you what the Sideart, in it's current state, will look like if applied on an ORIGINAL cabinet.
Once the plans are completed, they will be given to Jakobud for him to use in which ever way he choses. I will however ask him if he could attach the Sideart (when completed) to the plans so it can be used as a template and/or later used as accurate artwork (especially as the dimensions for the cabinet sides are based on the Sideart stencil for accuracy)
The plans are still at this stage.......
-
just to let you know that while leeching TAFA I notice that some flyers comes with plans with dimension
this could help in putting up the plans for various cabs.
hope this helps

I'll try my first attachment...

Good on ya CC. Thanks.
Yeh, I hadn't put on the small base yet as I haven't received dimensions and offset for it.
I'll utilise some of these dimensions to assist in completing the plans.
I find that depending on who measures their cab, some dimensions may vary upto about 1/4", as is happening in this case. For me, that leaves no easy answer on which dimensions to use.
However, not the end of the world by any means!
We'll get these plans as close as my skills allow.
Bring it on!! :)

I am after dimensions for the Australian/UK style Space Invaders cocktail like the one in the link below. I hope someone can help. I am after this exact style, with the two tiered cabinet shape. This is a pic of the back (P2) of the machine obviously.

Has anyone been able to find the dementions for this? Im really wanting the dementions on the Aussie style of cocktail too. I can try and find one and get some dementions to you Jakobud if your still willing to draw these plans?

I am looking for plans for a two person shooter. Positional gun like Terminator 2, Alien3 The Gun, Space Gun, Mechanized Attack, Steel Gunner, Beast Busters, Revolution X, or the like.
Anyone have the hookup or the means for the hookup?

Anyone have a bartop megatouch they can measure up?"

Same here. I'd like to see those plans also!

Is JakoBud's site down? I can't seem to access the plans.

No, its working - just tried it out. http://www.jakobud.com
Click on where it says Cabinet Plans in the center of the page. Then click on the file names (zip files) under each cab name. Pritty easy. Hope this helps.

Actually I figured it out, Norton Internet Security was limiting access to his site.
Disabled it and site works fine.

I have a GI Joe cab. (Used to be a TMNT?) I'd like to have a new control panel constructed for it (just the wood, I'd do all the wiring myself). In order to have this accomplished, I'd need the dimensions/plans.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!
Bill

Does anyone have the dimesions for a 4player GI Joe/TMNT/Simpsons cab? (I have a GI joe cab, and I believe they are all the same.) I'd like to have a new control panel constructed that perfectly fits where the orginal one is. I'm going for a swappable panel cab.
Thanks!
Bill

Have you bothered to check out this thread at ALL? Perhaps you might find your own help by simply reading and checking a few links, man!

Hello,
Checking this thread and looking for a set of numbers on Joust. Am I just missing them?
Thanks
-
Bump,
Does a set of measured drawings for joust exist. Sorry to post again so soon but this message dropped off the first page pretty quick.
Thanks

I never found any or anyone who was willing to take the time to hook me up with them. I have sort of been on and off of this scene for a few months now, haven't made any new plans in a while. Maybe I'll get back into it soon.
-
If someone has a joust cabinet, they could printout the Moon Patrol dimensions and they'd be 99% done AFAIK. I *believe* the only difference is the rear height (Moon Patrol is higher, thus the boxier look).
You could just approximate that dimension and build off the Moon Patrol for the rest.

Jako...were you ever able to complete a "Tron" cab in .EPS format?...I didn't see it on your site and am in desperate need of it. Thanks for all of your time and a great informational website.
-
No I was never able to finish the Tron. I have partial plans for one. There were some rough plans posted on here a while back for one, but they are really incomplete and a lot of the dimensions are wrong from when I got a chance to measure a real Tron cabinet not long after that. I didn't realize they were wrong until later when I checked with what I measured and by then it was too late to go back and re measure everything, thus, incomplete plans :-( I'll try to get access to another one sometime.
-
if you would like to finish up those tron dimensions, send me a pm and i'll help you. i'm getting ready to pull mine out for a bit of maintenance and it'd be a good time to measure it.
-
oh oh...please do measure. i have searched high and low for dimensions and to no avail. thanks greatly

i've got no problem making the measurements but jakobud will have to help. he's very good at making the plans and i'm horrible at it. it's quite a bit of work to get it right and make it easy to understand. which is one of the reasons his site is such a good addition to the community. i can't volunteer his effort, but if he's willing then it'll get done.
i'll have my game out in the garage and in pieces in mid may, so that's as soon as it will happen.

I'm interested in finding some detailed plans / dimensions for a dedicated UNIVERSAL cabinet.
I'm looking to build a dedicated Mr Do from scratch. Haven't been able to find a nice clean cabinet for my Mr Do board.

Okay I will keep this in mind and get ahold of you for it. Keep in mind guys, the Tron cab, around the inner bezel area, has a lot of molded plastic that will be extremely difficult to reproduce (let alone difficult to draw out plans for).

Hello,
I hope this project is still going strong. It has been a very useful resource.
I was wondering if anyone can provide dimesions (or even part dimensions) for a Track and Field (Hyper Sports/Tetris)upright and a Phoenix (Centuri style, Time Pilot etc) upright.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-
Pole Position Sit down cabinet plans. I would be most appreciative if you have ANY dimensions available on the sit down cabinet.

looking for some Robotron upright plans/measurements, want to build a dedicated Robotron from scratch.

Does anyone have dimensions on a Gauntlet Legends cab the 4 player with overhead marquee I won a Vegas board on EBay with legends in it and there isn't one in my Area to measure. I need the Cp and front coin area dimensions. Thanks

Jakobud's site seems to be down. Was his site moved somewhere else or mirrored maybe?

CJ: could you do some rough measurements of your tron? doesn't have to be a full drawing, just need the basic measurements.
I have something cool in mind...

Sure ... just ask DG how great my turn around time is ... ::) (sorry, again, DG)
Seriously, so long as you aren't looking for the shroud angles and measurements, it shouldn't be a problem. I won't be able to get to it until after Mother's Day, but am rearranging machines shortly thereafter (cleared out a wall of furniture ... more room for cabinets!), so can put a tape to it (and thankfully, it is a pretty easy cab to measure).
If you don't hear from me, just PM me to remind me ... and repeat until completion.
Cheers.
EDIT for spelling

Here's a WIP of Taito plans based on Wade's dimensions that he got while Spriggy (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=19558.0) was putting together the Taito sideart (http://www.localarcade.com/arcade_art/details.php?image_id=837&mode=search) (see the references panel in the PDF).
I'm missing a few dimensions, so I'm sort of stuck now.
Anyone out there able to take some Taito cab dimensions for me?
-
I would be willing to pay for plans for a Gun Cab for Positional Guns.
I have a set of Revolution X guns, so if I had plans for T2, or some similar that would be very helpful.

Humm, I was thinking of doing that myself. LOL I was thinking I could not live if all those plans disappeared.

I can pitch in with dimentions as I have an Asteroids and a Mortal Combat 4. Both full size uprights. :)
Can you send me the dimensions (inside) of your MK 4 cabinet please? (for monitor install)
-
Can I have dimensions for Pac-Man, please? With details of the inside, too, of course.

Holy necro resurrection!

Hi,
I'm trying to make a Double Dragon cabinet, and cannot find comprehensive plans anywhere on the net.
Have looked on the excellent Jakobud website, and require something similar with front and side views.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Andrew

Welcome this is a really old thread but one idea for you to start to work out those measurements is download and take a little time to learn Sketchup and look up Double Dragon cabinet in sketchup downloads (its there somewhere) then using the measurement tool, you can get some measurements off there.
-
If you want to try mgb's advice, look at the Arcade cabinets by Gozer (http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/cldetails?mid=4ac3dc12784cb20bd06e6be4f8954ac&prevstart=0) sketchup list.

Yeah thats the one, Gozer's measurements are pretty right on.

Cheers mgb and PL1, that was precisely the sort of thing I was looking for.
I've done some design work in Sketchup previously, so it should be a piece of cake to get the angles/measurements I need now.
Already sourced the correct Marquee, Monitor Bezel and Control Overlay.
Just need to sort out the Taito Logo/Design on the side now and I will be set.
Thanks again guys.
Andrew
