Title: JVC AV-27120 won't work
Post by: StratMan9000 on August 01, 2011, 03:05:53 pm
Hi all, I've been having some trouble with a TV I got for my first MAME cabinet. It's a JVC AV-27120, and here's what it does. When I plug it in it will click like it's about to turn on, but it doesn't. There is a power LED on the front, and at this point, it will start blinking. Sometimes it will manage to turn on, but after a while it will turn off. I can usually get it to turn back on by hitting it, but that won't work very well while I'm in the middle of pacman. If anybody has had this problem before, or just knows how to fix it, I would very much appreciate it.
Please ask if you need any additional info.

sounds like a bad solder joint if a knock affects it

Hmm, sounds plausible, but unfortunately I think there might be more to the the problem than that. To start with, it seems that after it fails to turn on and the light starts blinking, no amount of beating will then turn it on, and I am also unable to turn it off with the button. Also, if it is turned on before I unplug it, when I plug it in, and before the light starts blinking, I can always turn it off. On top of that, under the same parameters, if I start beating on it before the light starts blinking, the screen will sometimes turn on. I think a service manual would help a lot, but I can't find any for free. If anybody knows of a place to get the service manual for free, that would be great.
