Because I love this site and a lot of people show off other non arcade related projects I thought I would show off something I made for someone very dear to me for her birthday.
I semi recently moved into my own house and I sadly don't have any tools so building this Companion Cube was quite hard I know a lot of you guys could of done a better Job but I don't think it's too bad at all :)

Where did you get that book? I need to read that to the kids at bedtime! :laugh2:

Does your girlfriend (or whoever the recipient is) actually play and love Portal? Or are you the portal fan?
Just curious because often I see guys putting all this effort into DIY gifts like this and I can't help but think of the Simpsons episode where Homer gave Marge a bowling ball with his own name engraved on it.
I'm not trying to be a dick or anything. Honest question that pops into my mind often. I've caught myself wanting to do similar, like build a custom MAME cab for a significant other, and then remind myself *I'm* the arcade nut, not her.

Chicks seem to dig the companion cube. :dunno They just do. I don't doubt at all that she would love it.
Although my wife would have no problem dumping the companion cube in the incinerator, she likes games more like Harvest Moon. Her games need to be obnoxiously cute.

Got it off Amazon and if you look closely you will see a small black object poking out of the top right.
Plug some headphones into it and it's the Samuel L. Jackson Audio book of it ;D

Not seeing that question as you being a dick at all it really is a good question that a lot of people forget that they might like it more than their significant other.
She is very much into portal (I knew about it but never had time to play and her enthusiasm and love of the game got me to play it and now I'm a big fan as well)
