I have been wanting an MK2 cab for ever. So a long time ago I created a custom search on craigslist and bookmarked it. Whenever I had some extra money I'd look on craigslist to find a good deal. They were always either crap or way too expensive. Anyway, Friday I looked just for giggles and saw the listing for $350. I called the guy up and asked for more pics. They only had one pic up and it was super low res. He told me it's fine but he doesn't know how to open it and the joysticks need work. One doesn't work at all. I go over that night and sure enough the joystick on the right is totally screwed up but figured I could fix it no sweat.
I told him that the cmos error that it was throwing bothered me (turns out it just needs a new battery), the joysticks would need replaced and it would be a pain to drill the lock so I only offered him $300. He said no problem. I asked him if he had a truck and he said yeah. I offered him an extra $10 if he'd help me get it to me house and he said he'd do it for free.
That's about it, I got the back opened and everything is in order. It needs some cosmetic work but I'm really happy with it.
It works perfect. Monitor is nice and bright. Reds are a little strong burning big deal. Needs new joysticks. Thinking about replacing the buttons too. Tmolding could get replaced. The side art is a little faded but meh. So stoked!!

That's cool that you have the family support as well!
Oh, and I see from your profile that you're local! I've seen those MKs on CL here as well. Good score!

Thanks for the steer towards Model2. I'm going to do a lil more homework and start to gather the required files.
I think this could be cool...........if I can pull it off.

Which bottom card?

On the monitor bezel.

I think I actually have it in my MAME extras. Want me to hunt for it?

I'm 90% sure it is. It looks like it but it could be the one for MK1. I will take a pic when I get home.

Good price, I just sold one of mine for $650.

This is the raw scan, the cleaned up file in the MAME artwork folder is actually worse... The reason is because the text is off and thicker, the inside line randomly has gaps etc.. also no midway part number on the MAME artwork file.

You're right; the MAME one is crap; so is the MK1 version. And what better way to get me to fix it, than to post in a random thread, rather than go to the source and let me know of my oversight. (I did both of these at a time when I was still learning; on top of that, I can tell that I "rushed them out the door").
BTW... you also missed that the MAME version uses the MK1 logo, rather than the MK2 logo (e.g. check the nostrils).
You're right about the text being too thick in the current MAME version. But the one you posted isn't exactly right either; check the photo in the above post. The text is a bit thicker in the photo. The CAG scan is also crooked.
I'll be fixing both of these next update.
