Title: Hyperspin won't start
Post by: ahofle on July 25, 2011, 10:51:16 am
I'm trying to get Hyperspin running on my cab PC.  When I start it however, it just silently crashes (the process in task manager just vanishes with no error msg).  There is no error log in the hyperspin directory and I haven't been able to figure out the cause.  Has anyone else seen this issue?  Any suggestions?

Thanks I'll give that a shot, but this is a brand new XP installation so I don't think I've had a chance to pick up a virus yet!

If you're using the patched ATI drivers then that's the problem, HS won't start if total number of video modes in the system is more than a hundred or so.

Crap that must be it, I am using them.
Any idea why Hyperspin cares how many resolutions are defined?

Because it's a bug in one of the Adobe plugins that is used...

Thanks for the explanation.  I assume Adobe knows about the bug?  Not that this would be a very high priority for them.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'm curious if there is a workaround for this.  I'm using the patched ATI drivers with GroovyMame.  HS will start when I am remoted into my cabinet but not on the cabinet itself.

I lowered my number of resolutions in  vmmaker.ini to 90 and Hyperspin will now load.

Sorry for the necromancy.
