I wonder if this is posible? can we use hiscore and savestates at the same time? thanks for any help.

As long as the game supports it, it should work fine. I'm running both on my cab with no issues.
What build of mame are you using?

Im runnin mame 143 patch with the diff from here, the thing is ,that if i use savestates the hiscores wont save, they always start from what the original hiscore is on the rom, but if i dont use savestate, the hiscore works like a charm, im talking about 80s games, pacman, mrdo, digdug, dkong, so far i tested them and it wont work. Can you share the way to do'it? thanks for any help.

Well describing what you're doing is making me doubt my recollection. I'll examine my config and report back. Hopefully someone else will chime in as well.

So far i tried a bunch of games, and its the same result....with savestate no hiscore, no savestate will meake hiscore work...

I think that's right (normal).
I also remember reading, somwhere in these forums, (and tested it out) that if you "pause" Mame, while in game, Hi-Scores wont work (gets disabled).
Im guessing thats the devs choice and not a bug per se.

It *is* how MAME handles things, now. They phased out hiscore support (only partially in favor of savestate), and while the hacked diff (or feature, if using MAMEPLUS) works as far that goes, the option defaults to game state.
As I generally reset dissatisfactory games, I gave up the idea of being concerned with hiscore.
