What do you guys think? I think its lame. How does he fit in to the universe at all?
-
Two gloves? Jackie Earle Haley version?
PASS!
Just play TerrorDrome (http://www.terrordrome-thegame.com) instead.
Here's a video of the new Freddy DLC for MK.

:dunno
What about Kratos, or the DC Universe. Is this what we can expect with Warner Brothers owning the franchise.
Why not just add Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd?

It COULD have been cool, if it were Robert Englund, he was the 360 exclusive (or 360 users got him for free) and he was a fully integrated character with an actualized storyline instead of a dlc hack job that has two gloves to hide the fact that the mo-cap they are stealing from the other characters is "mirrored" like on the old 2d fighters.
He could fit into the story quite well.... certainly better than kratos, if they went with the whole hell dream demon aspect of freddy's dead/FvsJ instead of the new film.
I haven't bought any of the new dlc characters yet and probably never will (you know they'll just release another version of the game with all this crap included for a lower price later on). I have been EXTREMELY disappointed with the dlc. I thought we would get fully realized characters with unique mocap, alternate costumes, stat views in the Krypt ect.... What we got were characters that steal moves and mo-cap from the other fighters that feel kind of half-finished.
I was hoping that the last character would be Motaro, but alas, motaro never gets any love.

Terror Drome has been dead for almost a year now.
First Orion pictures (damn I didn't even know they were still in business) as him to remove Ash so they could release some cruddy iphone game and more recently WB asked him to remove F and J, probably because of this game. (Expect Jason to be the secret character if there is a season 2 for dlc)
*sigh*
I remember when new line was "the house that freddy built" and not "an intellectual property bank that is a subsidiary of Warner Pictures, Formely Time Warner"
New Line Stopped being the old new line around 1996 (thus why they stopped making freddy movies) and REALLY stopped being new line in 2008.
I am frightlfully afraid that in future years the old midway properties are going to be whored out and re-imagined like their film bank is.

At least it's easy to put Ash back into TerrorDrome. It's a fun game to play with guests on the MAME cabinet.

Freddy with two claws? I don't know, it just doesn't feel right. I got the season pass though, so I guess I'll try him out.

No different than Link and Spawn and whomever else it was being in Soul Caliber or whatever game a few years back.

I think he fits right in. :)

When I was looking at this from the MK boards, I got quite a bit of amusement from everyone because it's either people who are going nuts for this, or nerd rage that he doesn't belong here, he's the reboot Freddy, etc, etc. Good popcorn evening I must say. ;D
Anyway I was looking him over and I've not seen the reboot, so I can't say anything on this being the Hayle Freddy. On second thought, I remembered how scary Freddy actually was during Nightmare's 1-2 until they started turning him into a comedian. From what I know, I think this one fits with the original intent more then anything and best of all, that was Robert Englund playing him at the time, so everyone wishing he -WAS- Robert Englund can rest easy.
Other then that second claw, I'd say he's perfect. Otherwise I'll just bring up "syringe hands" and leave it at that.

yoda in soul caliber was about as stupid as this..

Well that's the thing... reboot Freddy isn't scary in the least. He is completely devoid of personality and because we all know the story of Elm Street there are absolutely zero suprises in the film. He kind of comes off as a psuedo creepy pedo, (because in the reboot that's the angle they focus on) but he isn't scary in the least. Robert Englund had the magical ability to scare the hell out of you one second and make you fall over laughing the next. Hayle's performance is just terrible, there is zero facial expressions going on, which is kind of necessary when you are wearing prosthetics. He also kind of whispers in the whole film. I get that he is TRYING to be scary but to me it was more like "speak up buddy! I can't hear what you are saying!"
And the overall look of the new Freddy is just terrible as well. Sure the old Freddy's burns were completely unrealistic, but the way it was stylized over the years kind of gave him a "demonic witch" look, which is very effective. The new, more realisitic makeup, whihc unfotuantely is 50% cgi, kind of gives Hayle a "mush face" which isn't scary at all. If anything it makes you feel sorry for the guy... like you would a real burn victim.
So it isn't as much about using the reboot Freddy in the game, it's all the terrible memories of reboot Freddy that come along with him.

Yeah, the new Freddy isn't creepy-scary, just creepy-pervy. His face is just pathetic. Robert Englund is still the only TRUE Freddy. JEH is just an imposter. (And I like JEH, just not in this role)

Agreed. Hayle is a fantastic actor, this was just the poorest choice in casting since they made Shia Indy's son. His last big role had him playing a soft-spoken, unassuming guy with hyper violent tendancies. Now that sounds off-putting, but not scary and this is essentially how he played freddy.... Rorshach
the burn victim.

It's weird, but hes actually pretty good.
