Title: Can HLSL be used with GroovyMAME?
Post by: lettuce on July 17, 2011, 05:47:17 pm
Can the new HLSL scanline mode be used with GroovyMAME?, as it needs D3D video mode to use HLSL?

Sure, provided you manage to set HLSL up, that's way tricky if you ask me, but it did work for me.

You need to use these options: -video d3d -noswitchres

You can also use either syncrefresh + soundsync or triplebuffer as these options work the same for d3d.

I do not understand exactly why I have to use -noswitchres to enable hlsl in d3d. Would you please elaborate?
Btw, mame fails to create D3D device with that switch.

That post is from 2011 my friend. I can't remember why -noswitchres was required at the time but it's certainly not true anymore.

I found another thread where you actually gave an answer to this mystery. It was dx9 runtime missing as I recently reinstalled my system.
