So a local guy is selling this machine for 350 and its working. I put a deposit on it already. my goal was to build an arcade cabinet put a tv in it a computer and have it be dedicated mame. then this fell into my lap. so what I'm wondering is should I definitely jump on this I only have till saturday to decide. I do want to change out the control panel I'm not a huge fan of the game itself. I have a pic that I'll post later it's on my computer and I'm on my phone right now. the controls are different than any other control panel I've seen pics of on the internet. I was also wondering if anyone knows if there are happ parts in that machine question. any help is very much appreciated. she is also selling a mortal kombat 4 working unit for 550.

looks like a good Dynamo cab. Cut corner CP, the generic Street Fighter Panel could easily be fitted onto it. You could always sell the PCB and get a little money back. That button layout reminds me of a bunch of Soul Calibur conversions Ive seen.
350 is more than I'd be willing to spend, but if the cabs solid and the monitor is good, its not a bad deal.
-
so are you saying it's not an original?
-
would you recommend the mortal kombat cabinet over that 1? I love mortal kombat just not mortal kombat 4.. and I wouldn't wanna hack up the control panel cuz I do love mortal kombat.
-

Nope, that's a conversion kit game. Dedicated Mace games are very uncommon. I have one, and it's an engineering/test market sample. I have never seen another Mace "in the wild" that wasn't a conversion kit game.
And $550 for an MK4, dedicated or not is a little high, especially if your looking to mame it.
-
I don't understand. cabinet kit kat 400 dollars without shipping. wassail monitor in controls and I guess it's all for 550. do you really think I could talk this guy down lower.
-
I guess you're not anywhere near the south???
That MK4 would be lucky to bring $300. Used games and cabinets are so plentiful here I have to junk what I can't place on location or put in storage.
$400 for a cabinet kit that's made out of new materials isn't overpriced, but used cabinets are worth significantly less.
-
new hampshire here.
-
after much thought I'm gonna go for the mortal kombat 4 machine. I'll do my best to talk him down but if it's in great shape I will pay full price.
-
where do you live exactly?
-
manchester new hampshire.
-
That Terminator cab would be flippin' sick as a mame conversion.
-
both MACE (not the one you posted) and mortal kombat 4 are midway cabinets. IMO midway cabinets are the best. If you are gonna keep the control panel the same then MK4 is definately the midway cab you want because the player 1 and player 2 joysticks are spaced out more than on any other MK. More comfortable to play with someone else because you have more room. Just throwin that out there.
-
I would have went with the Dynamo. Cheaper and a perfect cabinet for converting, especially with the pull-out shelf where your PCB's/Computer would be mounted (if this cabinet has one installed). Dynamos were meant to be conversions.
-
Wow thanx pinballjim..i appreciate your help. Sarcasm is so hard to convey in text. no 1 ever said anything about lay away. I put a deposit because I haven't seen the cabinet it's 1 state away I'm going saturday to look at it. if you just gonna be anunhelpful dick please don't post in here I don't need your kind of help. everyone else so far I thank you very much for being very helpful. I should mention that mortal kombat is my all time favorite game ever.
-
I'm sorry I thought I said I didn't wanna hear from you. I'm new to this but I'm not new forums. I recognize your attitude in your snide remarks and Im not interested in anything you have to say.
-
can anyone provide me evidence or proof of the mk4 cabinets worth? I think it would really help me out with my bargaining on saturday.

This is in the town I live in... http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/vgm/2484398110.html (http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/vgm/2484398110.html)
if you are going to MAME a cab, no reason to buy one that is working... some parts may be worth $$$, but hold out and you will eventually find a worthy cab under $100.
Sometimes it is hard to read the tone of people at BYOAC, especially when it is info you may not want to hear. But the advice is good.

Yea, but that's a conversion. A dedicated machine is worth more than a conversion. I wouldn't pay $550 for a dedicated MK4, wouldn't feel comfortable paying $400 for one either. ALWAYS haggle.

I was hoping the cabinet could be both..mame and jamma
-
This is why i started this post and its been very helpful. tomorrow i go to see what hes got and we'll see what happens.I've been researching mame and cabinets mostly north coast customs kit. I know the cabinet is used but ... i love the art and it has a working monitor . art + controls+ monitor + cabinet in pretty damn good condition seems like a good deal to me. But like i said this is why i posted. In my eyes i can hook up a jpac with pc and be jamming in no time. Im already up and running the latest mame using mala BTW.. that end is all taken care of.
-
price depends on how much its worth to you. I paid $600 for MK2 and $500 for MK4 but both games were in showroom condition. If its beat up then id pay between 200-350 for em. but again.. it really boils down to how much its worth to you because there isnt really a market for arcades here in america.. they might og up in value many years from now, but they are definately at an all time low.. time to buy =)
-

If you don't like 4 you could always put one of the other mk boards in and keep the artwork and control panel intact.
-
yeah.. MK4 was definately my least favorite MK but since I bought it, its all I play. Its definately the fastest MK and the gameplay is super fun when playing with other people. PRoblem is the game seems incomplete. No final boss that u cant play as. No sub boss. Endings are kinda lame. But again, its the best MK cabinet simpley because the control panel. I put UMK3 and MK1 in the MK4 cab and they all work great. If you are gonna turn it into a mame box, then I dont know about the MK button layout. you might wanna go with something more like a street fighter button layout. It would be the most compatible with all the games. I personally like the button layout of the x-arcade

00 <-- looks something like that
-
that would be awesome but Ideally mortal kombat 123 and 4 in the same cabinet.
-
if you get MK1, you gotta get the turbo ninja revision chips from hobbyroms.com. soooooo much fun!
-
Whar are we talkin in terms of price?are these pcb's that I would need?
-
ebay they go from $30 to $250.. gotta find a good deal
-
Thats an insane price range!
-
all depends on the game and how many people are lookin for it.. MK1 and 2 go for really cheap. UMK3 goes for between 120-225 usually and MK4 is the most expensive and hardest to find. Ive seen it go for over $300.
-
No one probably cares but i went to look and the power supply was bad on the mk4 unit. no biggie but he wouldn't budge on price at all. He was kind of a dick. But i happen to find a somewhat local guy sellin a mame cabinet and i think im gonna jump on it. Things happen for a reason. Someday ill find all the MK cabinets.
-
Sorry to hear about that, but something better will come along.
-
theres someone selling a UMK3 in an MK2 cab locally here for $440 on ebay.. It looks like its in great shape.. I wish i had more room in my apartment lol
-
i saw that. way to far for me.
