Ben Heck, who in my book straddles the line between cool and ---meecrob---, hacked a 360 and one of those 50 disc cd changers to make a DVD changer for the xbox. Think about it: Mame PC hooked up to KVM hooked up to xb 360. 360 hooked up to changer. Changer hooked up to arduino, hooked up to small touch screen. The touch screen has box art for each game. You can scroll through the games and select one and then it pops into your xbox and boots on screen. Sorta like an xbox juke box. What do you all think?

That guy is pretty cleaver.
Of course what your saying you could just get a Jtag xbox. Play all games from hard drive including MAME.
My "JTAG Xbox 360" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmdpjGvQ6sM#ws)

Yeah, doesn't xbox have the equivalent of Wii GX USB loader? Stick a fork in it - Optical media is DONE!
My SO was getting excited about a $50 Blu Ray player. I had to explain it to her again.
I respect the hack though, it's probably the most legal way to do what he's doing.

No thi would be cooler than a JTAG, for one, no worry about being banned, for two you could set it up to look like a juke

Yeah, this is one of the better hacks he's done in a loooooong time. Still a ---meecrob--- though.
Saw it on HaD and it's a good idea, for precisely the reason the OP states.

I have a device that not only grabs my games but also my beers...

This dude on the other hand probably should keep building stuff like this though ;D

If that's all she does, I'd rather go for the changer.

Sorry, but can't you just install Xbox 360 games to the console's hard drive anyway?
-
Yes and No.
You can either download the games off of xbox live and have them installed, or you can install it off the disc.
If installed off the disc you still need to use the disc to launch the game but once running it will use the hard drive to run, note that the disc cant be taken out at this time.
There's also "JTAG'ing" which is a modification to your console that allows you to run custom programs on your xbox some of these enable you to copy your discs to the hard drive as if you had downloaded them from xbox live.
However JTAG'ing may be illegal in your region depending on legislation.
