Is there a faster way to remap buttons? For example, I have a pretty standard 7-button layout - basically the "street fighter + run" thing going on.
What I'd like to do is map the buttons in groups. 4 button games across the bottom, 3 or less across the top, etc. Getting the majority down like this would really give me a head start mapping buttons!

I think you want to look up controls.ini
I recall that it was used for this scenario. I'm not trying to be vague, but I have not set it up so I couldn't explain how to do it.

No you dont have to do it game by game. In the menu, you will see an option to configure controls for this game and an option to do it for all games.

I think what he is looking for is somewhere in a middle ground between these options. He isn't wanting to do "this game" or "all games" but something more like "all 4 button games."
I'm curious about this too.

Try CFG Magician to see if it can help:

You can also try ctrlr files:

CFG Magician is a great tool! I used it to make config files for my 6 button games since my default button 1 is the 4th bottom button on my SF/NeoGeo layout. There's really no other good way to get things mapped the other way without building a ctrlr file and putting in a lot more effort. CFG Magician can build custom config files for any list you can generate with romlister!

If you have the Ipac could you possibly use that to set a wider range of grouped key controls?
