So, I have my coin door lit up, and modified it to take .984 tokens and got a bunch of tokens. The question to those of you that use tokens in your arcade, how do you store your tokens? Right now I have them in a box, I would like to get some sort of mechanical dispenser, anyone know where i can get one?
-
I don't do this, but I seen others use an ashtray to hold the coins.
-
If you really want an "authentic" arcade experience you could get a change machine like this one.

I've seen them go for around $150 on CL and ebay around the Denver area.
Or you could modify a coin sorter to have a hopper full of tokens and dispense them when a button is pushed or a lever is pulled. I have one from the early 90s that I think would work better than this, but here's an example.

Or get a belt coin dispenser (http://www.abccoin.com/catalogitem/belt_changer_M1/) (that one's not for tokens, but I know they're around) like the arcade ops used to where...

Back pockets work well and you could win something nice at the post office or the liquor store.

Don't want authentic at all. Want something maybe vintage, like an old coin changer or something. Want something mechanical versus electronic. Might just make on myself?

Get a candy grabber.
How much do your tokens weigh?

don't want something bigger than my cab to dispense tokens for my cab
-
Here's what I have for my tokens ;D: Unfortunately they don't seem to appear every day.

Yeah, I don't think most people have the room to spare to have something just to hold coins, I would rather have another cabinet instead.

Here's the video. Although there's no nudity, it's probably not safe for work.

If you want to get creative, fill "prize eggs" with tokens then put them in a toy capsule machine ;D

Coin Tray (http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/plastic-tray-for-quarter-rolls.html)

Thanks for the suggestions, but not what I am looking for. My cab is wood and its in my office, so I want something more grown up looking...
-
Small wooden "gumball" type machine to dispense them one at a time via a handle? Hmmm, have to think about the mechanics on that one first..... 8)
-
How about mounting a belt/hip coin changer to the side of your cab?

Have X come do it for you. He was the change boy in an arcade for awhile. Just make sure to help him count out the tokens. :P
-
I thought about the hip change thing, but I only need quarter size...
Thinking about making one. You can get quarter sized forstner bits, thinking about making a base with a drawer 4 tokens thick, then mounting a copper or brass pipe with the internal diameter about the size of the tokens to the top of it....
-
The copper pipe and tray idea was what I was going to suggest. Put a lid on the tray that covers the back half so when you pull it forward, the tokens are blocked from falling, and you'll always get a set number (maybe, I could still see things jamming).
I wonder if an antique gumball machine could work, you may have to drill out or otherwise enlarge the ball opening on the inside, and you'll likely get more than 4 tokens at a time, but there may be a way to avoid that even...
-
Maybe this sort of dispenser would work. You could fit it with your own sign, or use no sign at all.

Some of the Kwik Koin old fashion coin dispensers show up on ebay from time to time for cheap. As you can see from the photo, they come in a couple denominations. The quarter one may work if you can find one...or build something similar. I believe they dispense a set number per pull so the thickness of the token may screw it up.
