Cowboys & Aliens.
Starts the 29th I think.
Looks very interesting.
-
I'm with you on that one. Something about it captures my imagination. Should be fun.
-
Yeah. I second that. Directed by Jon Favreaux too (is that the spelling). He did ironman, so there's some pedigree there at least.
-
I'm pretty excited to see Harrison Ford in this one. It seems that after Air Force One, he kinda stopped kicking ass. I'm not asking for much....just at least little bit of ass-kickery. This film might deliver that.

Me too good sir. I think now he can pull off the old cowboy role, might have a couple of nice one liners, and will most likely die considering he isnt the main character. I dont think Harrison Ford can carry his own movies anymore. After raping my childhood(see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull), I think he is a support actor at best. He didnt age as well as say Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood, or Charleton Heston.

I've been struggling with the reason why ford has kinda sucked lately. I think it may be that he is in roles that don't quite fit his age anymore. He's almost 70, and I'm not really interested in movies about him dating 30 year old women.
I have a feeling Cowboys vs Aliens might be a movie where Ford is finally portrayed as an old codger, hopefully it will help him fit the part for once in a decade.
Oh, one more thing - He also needs to lose the that stupid ass earring. Some people can do it, but Harrison cannot pull that look off at all. The characters I associate Harrison Ford with are more and more tainted every time I see that thing dangling on his ear. Jack Ryan/Han Solo/Indiana Jones/Deckard/The president would never wear earrings....grumble grumble
:soapbox:

Saw this movie today. I liked it.
-
It looks so bad, I'll go and see it ;D
-
I think you will like it. Its the first western Ive seen with alien invaders.
Special effects are cool, storyline is good, and the ending is good. (Not left hanging like on Skyline).
-
I've been looking forward to this. I enjoy the cheesy summer alien films like Independence Day.
I didn't even know Harrison Ford was in it until I saw the trailer in a theater and Indiana Jones popped up on the screen. It was only for about 2 seconds but it was verly clearly Indy. ;D

I'm waiting for the spin off sequel, Cowboys Vs Predators.
-
Good action. An enjoyable summer release with a definite ending.

I really enjoyed it. They played it straight which was great. I was afraid it might be a little campy but the western part of the movie played true to form. I don't think the cowboys ever called them aliens either. Harrison Ford's best acting in years.
True Grit and now this. I hope we see more westerns.

They were going to re-make Westworld, but the project fell through. I think that might have been pretty neat.

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie.
That is all.
-
your wife enjoyed daniel craig..all wives do..
I thought the movie was "meh". alien invasion has been done to death. special effects weren't impressive either. you could skip first half the movie and wouldnt miss out on much.

She's more into the Sam Rockwell type.

Just for the record, anytime you see a movie with a really stupid title (this one, independance day, ect) that will be how it turns out.
Just watch the preview of a film, if by the end you go: "What the crap was that!!?!!" or "Holy crap I MUST see that!" then it's a good film. If you go: "I'm going to have to see this to see if it's any good." or "Those special effects were impressive". Then it will be "meh" at best, and boring crap at worst.
Seriously, that's what previews are for. I've rarely saw a great preview to a poor movie and vice-versa.

This movie is pretty good, of course watching it might help you make a more reliable critique.

See something before we judge it? Not on my internet, buddy.
I'm excited to see this movie. I've been a fan of campy space westerns since Briscoe County Jr. As long as there are cowboys, aliens, and ass-kicking explosions, I'll consider this one a win.
